I have heard many horrible stories on accidental [or not] acetominophen oversoses (the drug that is in tylenol). How much exactly [grams] is positively deadly?

The recommended dose on the bottle is the best amount to take (number of pills and amount of time between doses). I had an extremely painful nerve disorder (Trigeminal Neuralgia) where I took some pretty strong medications - Neurontin, Tegretol, and Percocet. The combination often made me groggy, so I would alternate with Tylenol. My doctor told me it was "okay" to take one more pill than recommended once in a while, but I was told not to do this often because it could cause kidney and/or liver problems (as does most pain medications). Any more than the recommended dose can be deadly in certain situations.

The max per day is 4gms or 4000mgs. It can be very dangerous. There isn't a drug that will reverse it's affects. it also goes after the liver and it is a slow painful death. Yes it can be if not used with caution

I'm a nurse, so this is not speculation.

4,000 mg is enough to do liver damage. So when taking it, please be careful. This dosage is for adults. I am not a pediatric nurse, so I don't know the milligram dosage for infants/children. All parents out there should be VERY careful with all medications, even the over the counter meds they give their little ones.
