the airplane ticket to another country and back will pretty much take up most of that money...then you need a hotel the cheapest would probably be for a wee stay 200-300 dollars them are the crappy hotels... anywhere...need atleast 2000 to travel to another country....also think about souveniers (spell check), food, tips, transportations...etc
oh lol i have to edit because i didnt see your not include air fair thing.... so with a thousand you can go mostly anywhere you want, make sure u pick a cheap hotel though...Mexico is very cheap and is fun

If your flying from West Canada/states
Go to mexico
or Canada-cuba
americans are not aloud to go to Cuba
