Ok... so I was driving today in L.A. and I came close to this Pedestrian Crossing which WAS marked. It was a regular street with 3 lanes on each side. On the fast lane, this big long expedition with tinted windows was trying to make a left turn and there were two guys crossing the street. Unfortunately, I did not see these two guys because the guy was blocking my view (and there were no lights in the street that were flashing when pedestrians cross). There were no cars infront of me and I saw the ford was hesitating to make a left turn when no cars were coming. So I slowed down to 25 mph because I knew something was fishy. As I passed the Ford on my right, I see two guys stopping in the middle of the road because they probably thought I didn't see them and were being cautious. The cop wrote on my ticket that I almost hit them by 1 meter, and failed to stop for them. I HONESTLY did NOT see these two guys and I used all the precautions. What am I supposed to do? Am I f....ed?

Pretty much! The Pedestrian ALWAYS has the right of way. Unfair, but true. I have a sneaky suspicion you were "already in" a 25 mph zone, so "slowing" is fishy already...but, it's happened. Go to your court date if you don't want to pay the fine, try to be as polite and sorrowful as you can be to the judge. Explain the blocked view and he/she MAY show you a little slack. Good Luck and drive safe!

You should probably just pay the ticket. You've already admitted to coming awfully close to hitting the two individuals. Although it was an accident, it was a potentially dangerous situation. You're not F*ed, you're just going to be out a bit of money.

Unfortunately, in the cops eyes you failed to use proper precautions so yes, you probably don't stand a chance. Sorry.

If you did stop without any physical contact or inury, maybe you could tell a judge in traffic court. It's worth a shot.

its hard to get out of a ticket. go to court and plead your case. Sometimes the cop wont show up and you will automatically win your case. this happened to my boyfriend two times, luckily
