Whoa, call down Ms. ASPCA. I have a 40 lb pit bull, my new neighbors have a 90 Rottweiler that could easily jump the fence. Just curious whether or not my dog could take up for himself if he had to.

it depends on how vicious each dog is. if the rott is very submissive and shys away from contact and your pit is very aggressive then i'd say you have a chance. but look out if that rott is very aggressive and attack mode oriented. your pit wouldnt stand a chance if that was the case. it is true that pits have strong jaw power and alot of people dont realize this, but they also have a very high pain tolerance.... but that weight difference is too big. especially if that rott knows how to use it....

Rottweilers...lemme explain why
Rottweilers when fully trained are agile and athletic just like the pittbull there both equally agile the Rotts has more strength and grip in its at 330psi which is way more than a pittbull dobberman boxer and German shepherd, by the way the Rottweiler are the same speed as pit bulls some when not taken care properly have a hip/shoulder disease if overdressing it buy if trained it is brutal and has no fear which means it could stand up to anything both dogs are brutal and feirce so they won't quit until one is dead which means it will end in a blood bath but overall strength speed agility aggressiveness the win goes to the German killer the Rottweiler which could kill the pitbull family easily all of them the ace and the hulk too

Tough choice I think that a pit bull is stronger mainly because they have a jaw grip that is almost as strong as a wolf jaw grip well if you don't believe me u should look it up ...and also pit bulls were breed to fight Rottweilers were breed to hunt so a pit bull has a more likely chance on winning but Rottweiler can win its a 65% vs 45%

First off, pitbull is a title that includs several breeds, including the American Pit Bull Terrier, the Staffordshire Terrier, and several other breeds. One of those breeds is the American Bulldog, the largest of the true pitbull breeds, which can be as big or bigger than any Rottweiler ever born, and is almost as strong as a small horse. Put those two dogs against each other, you better get out the butter, cause your Rottweiler is toast.

A Rottweiler would win if both dogs had the same amount of viciousness because a Rottweiler has a stronger bite and bigger teeth and are stronger and heavier and are fast for a heavy dog but the pit would give it a good match

From experience I think the Rottweiler would win. Someone related to me has a 140 lbs rottie and his neighbor has a 70 lbs pit bull and one day they did something very stupid and they sicked their pitbull on his Rottweiler and tank Rottweilers name)

I have no idea, but if that Rott ever gets out and attacks your dog, you should definitely call Animal Control! That's kinda scary. I have an 80 lb Pit, and she's the biggest sweetie, a chihuahua could probably kick her butt. J/K, But seriously, if there ever comes a time where they get into it, your dog will most likely get blamed, just because of their reputations. I know it's not fair at all, but you should maybe go over to your neighbor's and let them know that you're nervous about the dogs getting into it, and maybe talk about some alternatives to keeping their dog secure, not just a fence. I hope you never have to find out who would win. Good Luck!

The jaws on a pit are very strong. The rott would have a problem holding down the pit because their skin is soooo tight on them. With a rott, you can grab them by the scruff of the neck easily.
It's not going to be pretty if they get vicious, so be careful.

The pitbull would win...the rottie would put up a good fight though. But the pitbull has virtually no sense of pain and their instinct to latch onto the throat absolutley overrides everything when they go into fight mode. I know this because my sister owns an APBT and American Staffie and their friend brought over his intact male APBT and the dogs got into a fight (by accident)...let's just say, it took two grown men and a woman to tear them apart and one guy got his leg ripped open and one of the dogs ended up with severe facial damage and required tubes in his neck to drain blood and pus from his head for the next week. The APBT that did the most damage was 10 lbs lighter than the 60 lb intact male! You might wanna think about talking with the neighbour and putting up a hot (mildly electrified) fence between your yards because rotties and pits inherently do not really care for other dogs...they prefer humans.
