You know, you're not under any real obligation to get a set that are made specifically for women. There are many sets out there that are generic. You can personalize your ensemble with the type of bag you choose... yeah, I've seen pink ones too. Avoid 'em.
Try www.golfsmith.com and check out their set of TightLies or the Wilson ProStaff clubs. They're pretty competitive clubs and easy on the pocketbook with prices too.
If you need to have the clubs sized for you, then I'd suggest a local shop with an experienced fitter.

depends on how serious you are about the game. if you are playing just for fun, or want to make it a life time pursuit.
if you are serious, you need to take some lessons, and the sooner the better, to ward off creating any bad swing habits. the pro can also advise you on clubs. if playing for fun,,or for that matter just starting out,,,i would suggest buying a set from Costco,,,or even Big 5 Sporting goods stores. They have real good sales quite often. Or some of the bigger golf outlets, Golfsmith, Roger Dunn, etc have used sets of clubs..

Not sure how much te set you are looking at is obviously, but watch Walmart, Target, Farm & Fleet, K Mart and the like. I got my first set last year at Target about this time of year for 89.95. It came with all the clubs I needed:Driver, 3 and 5 wood, irons 4-PW, and a putter, complete with bag. My Dad got one early this year from K's Merchandise. Just like mine except instead of the 4 iron he got a hybrid. Good luck, and hunt for the flag.

Go to a local club builder and get fitted. You will end up with better clubs than the cheap name brand models for about the same price or less.

Go to a golf pro shop coz there is more than meet the eye. you should get graphite shaft, the club has to fit you, the handle thickness to suit you, the buggy to suit your pulling strength etc etc... the lists goes on. Go to shop & get fitted by the trained staff there. They can get you start economically & you can add on extras later.
