I give my clients certain calorie levels to aim toward. Everyone has different calorie needs (i.e. for weight maintenance, weight loss, or weight gain). These clients of mine can "spend" their calories the way they want to....however when they reach their calorie level they need to learn to stop. If someone wants to eat only cookies (or candy for that matter) for the whole day...they can. However, they learn that they use up their calories a little faster and tend to be hungry the rest of the day. Candy and cookies are higher calorie foods versus fruits or vegetables. If higher calorie foods such as candy are eaten in moderation (or within certain calorie limits) one can still lose weight. I agree with your friend (you CAN lose weight by eating only candy), however, I don't agree with the nutritional value of the diet.

Well I'm going to try and be serious about this.

Yes you can lose wait by just eating candy, heres how you would do it you would eat 1 candybar a week. And thats it nothing else.

DO NOT DO THAT

1. You will be hungry.
2. It's not good not to eat.
3. Come on just get on a regular diet.

My answer is no you can not lose weight eating nothing but candy.

Hey well, i would say that she will probably lose weight, but it won't be in a good way... Candy is bad for your teeth, even if you brush them twice a day.. and if your body is not used to just "eating candy" it will go all hay wire.. because its not used to the sudden change in the food diet...it will reject everything and you will get sick.. i know this from past experiences.. i thought i could just stop eating something and eat something constantly (like she wants to eat "just candy") and i got horribly sick... but i'm not a doctor nurse, you could even call local hospitals or clinics and ask the same question....

hope it helps,

Elizabeth

You probably can. There was a diet called the Hot Fudge Sundae diet in which that was all you ate. Eventually you get sick of hot fudge sundaes and only eat a small portion.
I suppose if you could stay on the candy diet or the hot fudge sundae diet (and neither are healthy, of course) for a long period of time, you would lose weight.

The smoker's diet:

1. Two packages of your choice of cigarette per day (stay away from menthols, they have been linked to a higher rate of lung disease).
2. Eat a snickers bar upon becoming hungry.
3. Consume at least 16 ounces of vodka or whiskey per day.

I knew a 90 lb gymnast who did this. He stayed 90 pounds, but will probably die at age 30. Anything can make you lose weight, the trick is to make it healthy.

I heard that sugar makes you retain the weight. Kind of like how salt makes you retain water. If she wants to lose weight she needs to get on a healthy diet and exercise.

You are correct. Eating candy is not effective. In fact, you should eliminate it from your diet as much as possible. Supplement sweets for fruits and vegetables. Also start a routine exercise regimine. These are the only effective tools.
