You would think the recipe would always be on the box of cereal, but it's not.
Here it is:
KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES TREATS
1/4 cup butter
1 (10 oz., about 40) pkg. regular marshmallows or 3 cups miniature marshmallows
6 cups Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal
In a large saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Add the marshmallows and continue to stir until the marshmallows have completely melted. Remove from heat.
Stir in the Kellogg's Rice Krispies cereal coating them well with the melted marshmallow mixture.
Using a buttered or silicone spatula, press the mixture evenly into a 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan which has been buttered or sprayed with non-stick spray or lined with wax paper.
Cut into squares when the mixture cools.
Makes 24 squares.

Microwave butter with marshmallows on high setting for 2 minutes in a microwave safe mixing bowl. Stir together when melted. Microwave again on high for 1 additional minute. Stir in cereal, mixing until well coated. Press into pan as above.
Then if you like add chocolate or something! Good luck!

For a special twist, use any of the margarine, marshmallow, and cereal recipes. Just before stirring in the cereal -- when the marshmallows are melted and have boiled a minute or two or three, stirr in 3/4 cup peanut butter. Then add the cereal as normal. Once that's all mixed in, quickly stir in 1 cup frozen chocolate chips. Spread everything in the pan and proceed as normal. Cut them when they're about halfway cooled if you want an easier time slicing them. These are absolutely delicious!
If you don't like rice cereal, you can also use slightly-crunched corn flakes instead -- same measurements. These are great with the peanut butter and chocolate as well, but that works with anything.

I use 6 cups of krispies
3/4 stick of butter (use the left over to grease your pan. this fills a 13 x 9 perfectly)
a large bag of marshmellows you use for roasting (The whole bag!)
Melt your butter in a large pan. Just as it finishes melting add your marshmellows and stir constantly until it's all melted. Just as the last few bits start to melt away add your krispies and stir. (Don't be too aggressive or you'll spill them everywhere!) Pour or scoop this into your pan. Use the paper from the stick of butter to flatten out your mixture. If you don't you risk finding sticky stuff all over your kitchen for days.
Let them cool and cut. You can add more krispies if you like them more dry. I like mine sticky and gooey.
VARIATION #1: Pour the mixture and add chocolate chips to the top. Let them melt and then spread them out to cover the top.
VARIATION #2: Add a handful of unwrapped carmels to your marshmellow mixture before adding your krispies so they can melt. Yummy!
VARIATION #3: Do #1 and #2 to the same batch and add chopped pecans for turtle krispies!
This might cause a sugar coma so make sure you only eat a little at a time and cut them small. They are very rich.
