How many calories in a banana
The calorie content of bananas are low to medium. Most of the calories in a banana come from carbohydrates, both naturally forming simple sugars and starch forms its carbohydrate content. Its interesting to note that the composition of carbohydrate calories change on ripening, the sugar levels rise and the starch levels fall as a banana ripens. It means that bananas are probably easier to digest the more ripe and yellow the fruit becomes.

The protein calories in a banana only make up about one percent of its total calorie content however this is much higher than the fat calories in the fruit which is less than one half percent.

There are many other fruits that have a calorie content lower than bananas. Take a look at our fruit calories page to compare them to banana calories.

The calories in a banana are digested slowly and help supply the body with a steady source of energy. Bananas are great for an energy boost if eaten about an hour before physical activity.

How the heck does this guy drop below 4% body fat without drugs or supplements?

Tom Venuto is a natural bodybuilder who regularly competes at 4% body fat. The fact is, there are probably very few people who truly understand fat loss better than Tom does, simply because he doesn't just research it or write about it - he lives it! (and has the ripped abdominals to prove it!)

What Tom reveals in his best-seller e-book, Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle, is essential knowledge if you want to get really, really lean, and until you understand these principles, you can't even hope to get lean enough to see your abs - which is what we all want right? It depends on the size and ripeness of the bananna. An average ripe bananna would be around 10-15 grams of carbohydrate.
