Is it bad? No. Is it normal? Yes. Are you right? Doubt it. Does your mom have your best interests at heart? Yes. Should you listen even if it kills you? Absolutely.
Even if your mom is wrong about one of your friends, or someone you want to date, she still has more experience than you and can see risks that you can't. You telling her she doesn't know what she's talking about is the equivalent of a 5 yr. old telling you that you're just being mean when you try to stop them from running across the street. Just because they don't have the attention span to look both ways, doesn't mean there isn't a problem that YOU can see but they can't. Same thing with you and your mom. Trust me, she knows what she's talking about.

Absolutely not. Believe it or not she is only looking out for what is best for you. My mother did the very same thing to me and at the time I hated her for it,but now I realize that she did it so I would not get hurt. I only wish that I took her advice more often. Every mother does it and until you become a mother or even parent yourself you won't understand. Every parent can get this vibe from people that just tells them that something just ain't right. They can't explain it, but damn if they are always right. so don't be mad at your mom, be thankful that you have one who cares about you.

I know it's hard to deal with, but like I tell my own kids, no one will ever love you more than mom. If you're very lucky, you might one day find someone very special who'll love you as much, but never, ever could they love you more. She just wants what's best for you. It's hard to watch your kids mess up and not intervene. I don't know how my dad did it, but he was pretty great. Never once said "I told you so" when I didn't listen, and let me tell ya, it wasn't for lack of opportunity! Truly listen to her reasons for not liking these people. She probably sees something that you're to close to see for yourself. Try not to let it get to you too much. Most of these people won't be worth it anyway.

My mom was such a control freak.. she told me who my friends were, who i could date, when i could drive everything she drove me nuts ... and i ended up doing alot more things than i would have if she would of given me more freedom but i regret doing those things... ill tell you the best thing i ever did was right a letter to my mom... told her how i felt and we talked so maybe you should sit down and write a letter she'll understand you more and emotions wont flare .. good luck .. and i promise it gets easier!

It is only normal that you will be upset about your mum running your life, but try and see her point of view as well. She most likely is only looking out for you because she cares about you and doesn't want to see you hurt. Try talking to her about how you feel.

You know...sometimes we thing parents suck....they like to interfere into our life and tell us what we should do or not......But 97% of the time, they are right and we don't want to admit it but they were just trying to help us out or prevent us from being hurt....Parents sense when things are wrong. It's hard to say it but listen to them, you don't have to obey 100% but keep their warnings or advices in your head because one day you will use them for that particular friends or boy friends they didn't like.....I'm talking out of experience....and it's too bad I didn't listen to mine....

Take it from experience, although it totally sucks you know what, listen to your mom. She might see something you don't, and unfortunately when a family member or friend tries telling you something about something, their normally right.

That all depends on your age. How old or young you are. She may have good reasons.
