I don't know if I believe that people change....
I think that people become either MORE or LESS of who they are.
I think that the choices people make help contribute to become more or less of who they are!

Maybe a combination of both. I think people's choices in partners for romantic relationships can change because of the negative consequences of being with certain people they chose to be with in a previous relationship. I think the experiences we have in life can change us to some extent, but I think that personality is consistent over time. The people I have known for 25 or 30 years have the same basic personalities and traits they did 25 years ago, myself included.

I believe people can change i know the older I get the more I learn about myself in fact looking back I really didn't like me in my 20's I experiences and people I have met along the way have been a major influence on how and why I changed and I believe it is for the best.

I believe that people will change as they go through life. The different experiences they have will leave marks on them. The way the learn to deal with the ups and downs of life will mold their character. If a couple go through things together and change in the same way they stand a great chance of making marriage work.

It would appear that it is both that change. I am inclined to believe that it is first the person, then the choices.
Unfortunately, the changes aren't always for the better- some people just become bigger assholes.

In my experience, people don't change all that much and especially if someone else is trying to change them. I always hear women saying they stayed with a man because they were hoping they could change them, but had no success.

of course they do....experiences or events that comes in a person's life affects their behavior and much more their belief that makes a difference in their personality. We may not change totally, but as times goes by...with the day to day experiences that we have and we will have, people are bound to changes and the only thing that remain constant is CHANGE itself.

People can change only if they really want to (in the heart and soul). If they do not really want to deep down, they never will. The first key to changing is desiring the change.
