Young children, need at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Anything less, and the brain and body, is deprived of essential oxygen and the need to revatilize (re-charge) from an active day.

9 pm has always worked for me. The older the child gets, and grades show a positive uptrend, staying up later could become a reward for either good grades or good behavior.

I would say that it all depends how easily they wake up in the morning. If you have a child that is really difficult to get out of bed, the more sleep they have, the shorter the wake up process will be.

But for my family 10 p.m. was the latest I would allow...even on weekends.

I would say 9-10 PM is probably good. They should get at least 8 hours of sleep per night.

When I was in 7th grade, I went to bed at 10, so that is the time I would reccomend, but if your kid has trouble waking up in the morning, you might want to make it a little earlier.
