It controls reasoning and impulse control. In teens it is still developing. That is why children have a hard time seeing reason, and teens begin to question things. They are beginning to learn to reason and figure things out. Sometimes you may even hear a teen say "that's right, mom" which is a real shocker for any parent!
It also helps to control impulses. As a teens brains are developing you can see that they begin to control their impulses better as well.
