Why are most preachers afraid to preach straight through a gospel from beginning to end? Why do they skip over Jesus's "difficult" sayings and the enigmatic passages?

because they want you to follow blindly,

Here is another question to think about, every time someone says something like Gays are bad and such they claim that 'the bibble says it' where at in the bibble does it say it?

Now with the 700 versions of the bibble which one is right? So many diffrent ways for the bibble to be twisted by the political agenda of the person that is printing that version of the bibble.

People need to start taking the bibble for what I believe it truely is.

A WORK OF ART!

Study it, try to understand it, but dont try to push your bibbles views on me or anyone else. Because not every person is going to see the same thing when they read it, and the reason there are so many copies of it.

This is a generalisation; wherever there are large numbers of people like the followers of Jesus there are sure to be lots of different opinions / interpretations. I think the reason some preachers don't preach the 'difficult' stuff is because they emphasize being 'saved' before any kind of Biblical literacy...In fact I recently heard a pastor tell a woman that she was saved in grace even though she had never read the Bible and seemed to have no intention of doing so (because she had prayed the 'believers prayer'). Well, that is what some pastors think...what can ya do? Hopefully once one 'becomes a Christian', one will take responsibility to read the words of Him who they profess to follow, and will see the 'difficult' teachings for themselves. But it's true and unfortunate, that in their quest for mass appeal many churches are no longer Bible-based at all. Attending a service is like going to a secular self-help seminar.

Um Maybe its because he is just trying to give speeches that impact his community in a way that will best inspire them to act a certain way or do certain things. It is the belief of many people that the bible is just a rough guide for giving direction to people who would other wise be uncontrolled heathens running amuck with out some one telling them how they should act or what they should believe in. Picture a world with out its religious leaders. Its not a good place on the other hand many religious leaders are leading people to acts of war right now. No matter what book is read parts will always be left out or added that the reader would want people to hear or not hear. That's why after a million people read the bible they almost never will agree on the whole thing. The parts you expect to hear may not fit into the ideals the reader believes in. just like the roman church that decides what you should and shouldn't do. All religions are lead by a group of people and that's the down fall of them all. People are not perfect and yet we seem to be willing to listen and agree with any one in the cloth who reads the bible. Oh listen to the Pope because he was hand picked by god ?

Preachers do not do this out of fear. Some of the same events are told over and over in the Gospels. Some leave one part out and another adds a part. Even Christ's own disciples did not understand Him when he told them of his forthcoming death and giving them a Holy Comforter or Spirit. We are just human and usually the pastor is allowing us an opportunity to search the answers for ourselves, which I think, is a good thing. Many churches, many interpretations, many divisions, even over such mundane things as playing instruments in Church.

Maybe because Jesus was God, and therefore fully enlightened and knowledgeable about everything, and preachers are simply human beings. I think skipping the hard stuff is better than interpreting it wrongly. But I don't worship in a Christian church an longer so perhaps mine isn't the answer you're looking for.

A spirit filled preacher, preaches what God gives them to preach, because when the church meeting starts, you never know who will be sitting in the pews, SO God is the one who should be inspiring that word, that goes out, and in most of the Churches I go to, thats exactly what happens, and souls are saved.

Because it's difficult to interpret and it may actually mean a different thing. Not everthing that's in the passage. Take note that, it's not God who wrote the bible. The writers are human beings which means they also commit errors. Scriptures are not that accurate, and that is why Catholics just don't totally rely on the bible. We should also take into considerations Traditional Beliefs.

possibly becausethey don't understand what he was trying to tell people, That's where a good foundation in religious studies comes in handy, something most preachers don't have. Maybe that's why they seem to focus on revelations so much

no offense, but that is why the roman catholic church has preserved the sacred scriptures and teaching for 1000s of years, yet other christian sects have "diluted" the gospel inorder to make people "feel" good about themselves and to make their churches grow! lets pray for them>
