Have a change of scene. If need be meet with some good friends who have poitive mental attitude. Pray ... visit a church or temple. Or turn your mind for sometime to something which you like very much. Accept everything as God's will. Remember "this too shall pass". Know that there is something called fate. Read the Bible or the Bhagavad Geeta of the Hindus. They contain a lot of valuable suggestions. Do deep breathing or Pranayama and yoga. Learn it from a teacher. This gives immediate relief.

For the long term learn to meditate. Read "Creative Visualization " by Shakti Gawain or "The magic of believing" by Claude Bristol. Read Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Robin Sharma or Deepak Chopra. Keep a tryst with inspirational books all the time.

If you always desired to be in an "alternate" fantasy world, go there. I went through some really stressful times 5 years ago (even loss some hair because of it), but when I started to "go away" in my own world I found it tremendously helpful. My hair grew back better than before, and I didn't need any medications what-so-ever.

Also aromatherapy with the fantasy will really relax you, find a fragrance that you really like.

There are many other methods I'm sure, but those helped me out during my stressful times.

First-Long slow very warm bath. (If you don't have a tub, a shower will work fine.)

Second-Peppermint oil massaged on your temples slowly.

Third-After your bath lay down on you back a comfortable place (bed or sofa or even floor). Slow your breathing down by thinking about it. Inhale three deep cleanising breaths and blow out as much air as possible slowly.
Fourth Think systematically about relaxing one part of your body at a time. Focus specifically on the part you are relaxing. Beginning with your toes. Tighten and relax. Then ankles, etc. move sup your body slowly and systematically. When you reach your head even tighten and relax your jaw, chin, eyelids, forehead. The whole thing will take you a good hour. If you are still awake, you should feel much more relaxed.

Try deep breathing exercises. In a quiet room with dim lights, concentrate on breathing. Take a very deep breath while counting to five then exhale deeply to the count of five. Focus completely on breathing for at least 5 minutes and see if that helps. Try listening to quiet music, there are lots of relaxation cd's out there that can help.
Good luck
