I am not up to speed on the muslim religion, but I understand that the reason for wearing the veil is to preserve a woman's modesty. Therefore, she is able to refuse to remove the veil for a male officer, but not for a female officer IF the officer has reason to suspect that the woman is involved or has been involved in the commission of an offence and the removal of the veil will assist in proving/ disproving her involvement or assist with confirming identity. As for bus passes I don't think the veil needs to be removed, but with driving licences and passports the veil needs to be removed as these documents may be used to confirm identity. What made you ask this question?

I see no reason for a male police officer to ask a Muslim lady to remove her veil without a female police officer (or another female) present, for the same reason that there's often a female staff member present when a male doctor examines a female patient.

Bus passes don't have photos, so, same thing. In fact, there's no reason with the bus pass to ask for the removal of the veil at all.

As for driver's licenses, which do have photos, that's a controversy that I haven't resolved in my own mind.

In this situation a female Officer would have to be called, same as with a body search. As for the bus pass a bus driver would have to answer that.

The Police in America would not do that. They respect and realize the face veil. They would never ask a Muslim woman to take off the veil and more importantly the Muslim women would never have problems, because there would be no cause. They are good girls.

Well, from experience doing ground patrols in Iraq, at least one female had to rollout on every mission just in case a female detainee was taken for search and arrest. We female soldiers were the only ones authorized to touch the Islamic ladies, and yes, if they were suspect, hijabs came off. You'd find pistols, razors, bowie knives and all sorts of fun toys under all that. Procedure was as follows: two troops (male or female) stand at the ready with their weapons, suspect (female) gets searched by female personnel. If they are a go, they are released. If they are a no-go, they get zip tied and kindly escorted to the MP's. What happened from there is beyond my knowledge, I was not an MP. But on our end, we observed their customs, and accomodated their "modesty".

Some of the obscenities that came from these modest hijab wearers was shocking though, to hear from ceatures whose "modesty" we had to respect even at the risk of shafting another female soldier who just pulled 24hr duty just to run another mission because we need a female searcher.

Ironically, the Muslim males never had an issue being manhandled by the female soldiers.

Yes. However it depends on where this situation is taking place. Even if it was europe, the male officer would be ordered to call a female officer if he had suspicions regarding mysterious activity or something (terrorism related or something).

It is not the same for bus passess, etc.
You could refuse however you would probably be arrested.

If the officer has reason to see the full face of the lady in question, then law overcomes religion and she should show her face,If you are wearing a hood ,or a mask,it would not be unreasonable to be asked to remove it ,if the officer wanted to identify you.however in answer to the direct question of course she can refuse, but should not be surprised if she were arrested for obstructing the officer in the performance of his duty.

I do accept as true with maître jee that for passport (no longer in basic terms haj purpose, maximum of girls have their marrige pictures additionally being shooted, & and so forth....) they agree quite, they show their faces to immigration officers with lifting of veil, yet while it includes act in sync with relax of society, an analogous acts they see it as risk to their non secular device. Muslims has phobia in mixing with different aspects of society fearing that their short falls would be uncovered. @ ezeexs --> why you muslims needs specific previlage & structures at each and every point. I ask you back, Why this attitude, basically becoz you're muslims ? @ MS --> ultimate courtroom had no longer rejected the plea, it had mearly rejected the argument. It agreed to a specified listening to on the priority at a later date. Kindly study after paragraph 9 on the 1st hyperlink given by you.

I would say yes to the question. Only because of the way it is worded. Anyone can refuse to do anything they want to, it is America. But just because she refused doesn't mean she will not have to remove it. I can refuse to be arrested, but if I've commited a crime guess what ?
When you are in another country you must follow and respect their laws, not your own.
