Biblically the church is not a building at all.
Biblically the church is the body of believers.
Once a person truely believes and accepts the free gift of salvation, they are saved and the demons cannot own nor posess. This is not to say that we still cannot do very stupid things all on our own with our own sin nature, it just means that the demons may tempt us with our weaknessess, but not possess nor own us.

So, that said, the Church cannot be posessed. Movies are made from a secular or worldly point of view, but most Christians do know that the church that is spoken of in the bible is not a building at all, but a body of believers.

Hey If you don`t live for God, you are living for the devil, As humans, we don`t understand everything thats going on in the spirit world, because we just don`t think about it, we see the here and now, BUT the fact is were only the humans in this thing that going on, this is war between spirits, for the sould of the humans, And if you have not the spirit of God you are posessed by the demons, And thats called being Blinded, and decieved, and you have to get those evil demons out of your body, in order to be a child of God, Fasting and payer, Is a start., will get the Job done, let God know you want him in your life, and the devil out, at the name of Jesus, satan has to GO. but the movies make it look like really really bad, and it could be, I meam look at the killers, thats one form of being posessed, no Godly person would do that.

I never watched a movie where anyone was possessed by a demon inside a church. I have watched plenty where people were possessed and taken to a church so, I dont know about that. I dont think you saw that in a movie. Sorry.

Just as with urban legends, the thought of having somewhere to go that was safe, became very important when you are preaching that the world is going to hell and there isn't anything you can do about it. As fare as possession, this is the Christians fear that the evil will possess them which would keep them from the presence of their god. Scare tactics. No more than one energy spirit can be contained within one vessel.

probably because their only movies and stories, yet, the Roman catholic church has remained unchanged for 1000s of years, and is the one, holy, apostolic, catholic, church that Jesus founded and that he promised that the gates of hell would never prevail against it, the catholic church has the fullness of christianity, yet many people hate it, because of it's truth.

that still doesn't make the church itself unholy. Either way, now that Jesus has come, our bodies (as believers in Him) are temples of God.
