Dinosaurs lived between about 210 and 65 million years ago, during a period called the Mesozoic. They were reptiles, and evolved from an earlier group of reptiles called thecodonts.

The biblical story of creation is not (or at least, very unlikely to be) true. Fossilized dinosaur skeletons are one of the many pieces of evidence against it. As you can probably guess, I'm an atheist.

I'm a Bible believing Christian.
Judaism and Christianity address the issue of dinosaurs by looking at the Book of Job.
Chapter 41 describes an animal known as leviathan. Read through it and see if leviathan doesn't sound like what we know to be dinosaurs.
Genesis 1:20-23 says the animals were created on the 5th day.

The Bible does not provide specific answers.According to the Genesis account, animals were created during the fifth and sixth creative periods or 'days'If the Hebrew expression translated "great sea monsters"(Hebres tanninim) includes dinosaurs, which often inhabited swampy watery areas, this would mean that dinosaurs were created on the fifth "day"(Gen.1:21)We do not know if they continued to exist until man was created (toward the close of the sixth "day")At the very latest it seems likely that they must have disappeared off the earth at the time of the flood of Noah's day.
Some dinosaurs (and pterosaurs) may indeed have been created in the fifth era listed in Genesis, when the Bible says God made "flying creatures" and "great sea monsters"The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time.- Gen.1:20-24
When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose,God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how He did that or when.We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time.
That they suddenly appear in the fossil record unconnected to any fossil ancestors and also disappear without leaving connecting fossil links,is evidence against the view that such animals gradually evolved over millions of years of time. Thus, the fossil record does not support the evolution theory.Instead it harmonizes with the Bible's view of creative acts of God.

I'm a christian. Now Job chapter 41 talks about dinosaurs. Furter more, in response to one of the answers about there being 2 creation stories. Genesis chapter 1 is the creation of the universe and the world, and chapter 2 is a summary of the with a more detailed account of the creation of man and the Garden of Eden.

No one can be sure, but this is my theory:
God created life and described that creation to Adam and Eve who then passed the description on. God told Abraham the creation of life and Abraham passed it on to his descendants. God again told Moses the creation of life and Moses passed the description on to Israel. This is indicated by the three repetitious descriptions contained in Genesis 1 with the account from Adam told by Noah. The account given by Moses begins with Genesis 5. The entire Book of Genesis was authored by Moses, but the accounts of Adam and Abraham were included as Moses was instructed to write them at the command of God. Adam's rendition of creation was also written on the Tables of Enoch that would later become the Book of Enoch, which was omitted from the Bible. These discriptions of time were God's, not man's as we know it. Man created measure, as we know it, and not all divisions of man on the earth created the same measure. The most apparent example of this would be metric as opposed to standard feet, pounds, etc. It's more complicated than this, but you get the idea. Is it not possible, in fact the Bible states as much, that a day to us is as a thousand to God. Only God would know the measure of time for creation. If He gave it to Adam, Abraham, and Moses as six days; I have no problem with it. I know that there are many people who do not like the statement that a day is as a thousand to God, but it's in the Bible and makes sense to me. This is my theory and I continue to look for some error in logic to dispute it. Until then, this is my understanding. Dinosaurs, as well as any other prehistoric life, may well have been created long before we can know how to measure. Anything that comes before Adam, possibly Noah, is not entirely by our measure. It's not beyond reason and therefore possible.

My religious sect is the body of Jesus the Christ.
Here is just one.
Job 40:15 Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox.
Job 40:16 Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly.
Job 40:17 He moveth his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.
Job 40:18 His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron.
Job 40:19 He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made him can make his sword to approach [unto him].
Job 40:20 Surely the mountains bring him forth food, where all the beasts of the field play.
Job 40:21 He lieth under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens.
Job 40:22 The shady trees cover him [with] their
shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.
Job 40:23 Behold, he drinketh up a river, [and] hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Job 40:24 He taketh it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth through snares.
May GOD richly bless ya.

well, some people believe that the dinosaurs were created by the devil...
the bible is merely a collection of stories. they have a moral and you are supposed to learn from them about right and wrong.
I do belive in a higher spirit or being, but I belive in evolution also. there is too much evidence supporting the evolution theory.
But, where we came from is a mystery. Who put us here? why are we here? are there other beings on other planets? what is our purpose in Life? perhaps there was a greater hand in our existence, perhaps not.
by the way, I'm Methodist and my dad is a preacher.

EazyE wrote: "first off "one day to god is like a thousand years to us", meaning that the "7" day creation could have been millions and millions of years"
If one day to god equals a thousand years (1,000), wouldn't that mean that a 7 day (in reality it is 6 days, but lets continue with his illogical argument) creation would mean 7 thousand years? Where does this claim that it took millions of years come from? Unless you want to say that Adam living like 500+ years meant 500,000 years which then makes us wonder if Jesus living 30+ years mean 30,000+ years.

Lutheran.
The world wasn't literally created in a week. The creation stories are metaphors, and very useful lessons for the strengths and weaknesses of people, and morality in general.
Dinosaurs evolved from other animals.

They existed... and they all drowned in the flood.
Good book: "The Genesis Flood" by Dr. Henry Morris of Great Britain
I am non-denominational. I believe you either are a practicing Christian or you or not. Denominations get into the way. Most of Christians agree on the core tenets of the faith and get side tracked on petty stuff.
