being good just to get into heaven and not just because it's the right thing to do isn't that a little like trying to buy your way into heaven?
shouldn't they be doing good works without the thought of getting to heaven?

yes! finally, someone other than me thinks this. there are people who obsess over the bible, living their life to every word written; not missing a single mass, praying everyday before bed, pretending to be something they're not, bashing on anyone who aren't all christian like, telling people their an abomination, that they're going to hell, trying to change the life and belifes of others. you have your "true christian" who buys their way into heaven, and then you have the others...who live the life they want and not based on a book that no one knows for sure where it came from, who are not afraid to make mistakes(because thats how u learn from them) who dont care where you go after you die, because whats important is now. what ur choices are today and what your dreams are for tomarrow. most likely you are not going to remember your life on earth and when u die, your human self will never know if u've made it to heaven or not....so why stress over living a life thats not for you? you have to be who u are in THIS lifetime.

Not all Christians dwell on the concept of heaven. Many of us try to create a more fulfilling life here on earth, a more generous and peaceful life here and now. We do this without even thinking about an outcome of heaven. Christianity does not necessary have a goal of heaven, we have a goal of being good people, spreading the news and if that gets us into heaven then wow I hope to see you there.

Can you please send me a brochure of this resort called Heaven please? I need to know if my frequent flyer miles aka good deeds (?) are enough to get me in FREE. I want a VIP Hallpass and want the delicious rush of being able to go on any ride. Now, listen to me, if it is good deeds alone, i am already in but want the brochure anyway. If this is some pyramid scheme, then I must bow out. For some reason I have a nagging suspicion that there is a catch here......like belief. Now we are taking a different angel to this provocative and ambiguous connotation of ultimate 'living' which is where the journey really starts is at the end of your patience or comprehension.
Yes, I believe and do random acts of kindness....you have to take my word on this one and I do NOT stick around for accolades. In the event that this is a real place to go and not something I already have at my fingertips or within, then please send the brochure, make that two, as this.....if it is that good a deal, i might just have to perform a random act of kindness and share it.

Little person, I mean not to belittle you, but you have no idea what a Christian is. Christians do not do good so they can get into Heaven, that's the silliest thing I've ever heard. Christians do good because they are filled with the Holy Spirit and they do good because it's the right and good thing to do. Heaven is a place to go for being a Christian, not for being good.

Think of some of the final words of Jesus to his disciples before he ascended into the clouds. "I go to prepare a place for you, and when I come again, I will receive you unto myself, that where I am, there will you be also." We should do the things that makes God happy and avoid that which displeases Him. "Buying" one's way into heaven might be the wrong way of looking at it. A little kid does not obey his mother so that she'll let him live in the house one more day and not kick him out on the street. The mother loves the child no matter what. The kid obeys his mother because it makes her happy, and this makes him happy. God loves us and the Kingdom of God is ours by right of birth, unless we abandon that right. Remember, God does not move away from us, we move away from God.

I have to be good, sin wont enter into Heaven, so the way I act and present myself, I could miss out on Heaven, I fear the words of God that read like this in the Bible
"GET BEHIND ME YOU WORKER OF YOUR SELF, I DO NOT KNOW YOU."
I have to try to be good. Or I will be lost.
You will never understand that till you come to the Cross, and admit your lost.
So quit trying to figure out something that is hidden from your understanding.
It just wont happen.

We all have conscience and free will. It shouldn't be that we do good things toget rewarded, like little dogs clamoring for a pat on the head and affection from their owner. Do good because it feels good. Commit random acts of kindness and senseless beauty...and it draws people to you. You don't have to own up to any specific religion to understand kindness, compassion and love. And no one can patent good works. Be yourself, be kind, be good...and try not to let your mischief cause anyone serious hurt. Pay it forward.

Being good doesn't get you into Heaven. However, if you've truly experienced salvation, you WANT to do what's right.

Good works do not get you in to Heaven. Through a true relationship with Jesus, it comes naturally being a new creature in Christ.

Bingo

That is what I always ask. Then they just give you a bible verse.

You should be good for the sake of being thankful for this life and not because of being scared of what is to come.
