Often people are hurting or going through things we cannot understand, do you take that into consideration? I have seen some answers that were purposely cruel and unthinking, I too need to remember that we do not know each persons life or state of mind. Kind words echo long and so do cruel ones.

If something strikes me as needing a serious answer I will think about the persons feelings. If it's just a general questions I will answer it however I feel I should. A lot of times I have a lot of humor or sarcastic comments in my answers and some people might get it while others get offended. There is no way to get around offending someone on here. Even if someone means well they can offend someone.
There are people on here that find enjoyment in being annoying or hurtful. It's sad but they're there. Some people are just flat out blunt. Some people candy coat it. If you come here to ask a question you are asking all those people and so it needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

So, you'd prefer lies to truth just because the lies don't hurt so much? Is that it?
On a board like this, these things are bound to happen sooner or later, if we go all PC over it, nobody will ever answer a question again OR the answers well be so PC that they're meaningless.
People have to be reasonably thick skinned to survive, here as well as in the wide world.
If, for example, you don't like an answer of mine, then discuss it. If I'm worng, I may change my mind, if I'm right (and that means demonstrably right) then I stand by my statement and will try to show you (or whoever) why I'm right.

At rock bottom, it comes down to the fact that people's views differ (often widely) and keeping everybody from hurt or offence is totally impossible.

Remember Voltaire! "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it".

There are a lot of hurtful answers and questions as well.

I don't think the real questions are a sign of cruel intentions. But a lot of them are taken that way, hence the cruel answers.

Also people should remember that a person asks a question for the sake of asking or to learn about something. They get offended too easy at a simple question, then the person asking does not get the chance to learn what they want to know. They just get someone who is being mean.

I agree with what you are saying. I believe that this and other sites like it are used by some because it is a safe way to vent frustration and disagree with those that they cannot disagree with in person. It is often useful to be able to relay these feeling in word rather than in deed and in public. If Christians want to hate and show contempt here, they can. They are not confronted by others who would hold them accountable. You see here too, you have to take as good as you get. But I do understand, wouldn't it be nice if we were all considerate of our fellow man. It just doesn't happen that way.

Everyone human being should be capable of demonstrating consideration for others be it family friends or loved ones, teachers colleagues or civil servants. people who are ignorant of the feelings of others are selfish and it may be that they have been brought up without any one to guide tham or they have been brutalised by their own expeiriences. Interesting however are the words recorded in the bible at 2nd letter to Timothy chapter 3 v 1-5. read these for yourself and take time to meditate on them. do we not see such attitudes being prevalent and pandemic today ? Are we not really the nliving in the last days ?

Cruel words are usually remembered more. People are prone to keep the hurts closer to them than the good. And, yes, I try to consider these things... but sometimes you just have to let a person have "it". We can't all be as polite and gentle as you. *smile* (I am not being sarcastic here)

I usually base my Q's and A's on being funny or sarcastic, and sometimes A little mean when I'm in A bad mood. I don't really think about it, but laughter is the best medicine.

Yes I do and I noticed one person saying they "call things the way they see them". Telling the truth is what we should all do, but we can say it in a way that is not cruel.

i see this far too often sadly
we should all choose our words carefully and consider the effect we may have on peoples lives
we may be the difference between life and death at times and we may not realise it xx
