The best child care is you staying home and being the mother/parent.

Why do you need to go back to work? What is wrong with the job of being a parent? To me it is rewarding, fulfilling and the overall dividends are FANTASTIC.

I'm a nanny, and a mom. If you don't trust people, and if your kids are not old enough to tell you if someone mistreats them; I recommend a licensed daycare centre. With a nanny or a home care provider, you just never know.

I know I'm a good nanny, but I know other nannies that are pretty lazy. I had a bad experience with my kids with a licensed home care provider. I found out she was pinching my children's ears! My kids were 5, and didn't tell me until I asked them ( after another parent told me her 3 year old was mentioning it).

And speaking as a nanny, I could never and would never work for someone who wasn't trusting. I don't want to be worried about losing my job everytime the kid falls and gets a bump or a scrape

Find a nanny service, call your local child care resource or DHS to find listed providers. Ask other parents what they do. Pull out the phone book. Do you have any family members, get a teenager to babysit, how about an older person with the empty nest snydrome. When you find one you need to let me know about them here in Illinois, I am searching for someone to watch the kids 3 days a week for 12 hour shifts. Good Luck.

I don't live in MO, but I will tell you to get as many references as you possibly can. Even a private sitter should be able to give you references (more than 1) and if they can not, then go on to the next candidate. You don't want to give this job to anyone, go through a thorough interview process~! Also, make them consent to a background check. Good luck hon! And be careful!

Blah, Blah, Blah to the people on here that tell you to stay home and not work. Why, so you can collect welfare? So my taxes can pay for you and everyone else to stay at home? No! In this day and age, it is totally appropriate for a Mother to work. What else are you supposed to do to pay for your family to survive? Little miss smarty pants who said to stay home, probably has a Millionaire husband or a family that helps her out all the time and it is easy for her to just "stay at home" with her children. Kudos to you for at least trying give your kids a better life. Geez. People really need to lighten up! I'm sure you would LOVE to stay home. You already said you don't trust anyone with your kids, so obviously, this is a real struggle for you. I'm getting ready to have a baby myself, 1st pregnancy and I am not married. But I do have a fiance that works, but it takes both of our paychecks to survive the lifestyle that we live, which isn't all glamorous at all. We have a decent home, 2 used cars and a lot of love for eachother and our unborn child. I will go back to work after my 6 wk maternity leave and his mother is going to watch our baby. I am paying her weekly to do so. I would rather pay a family member than anyone else to watch my baby. Do I want to go back to work? No, I would rather stay home. But that's just the way it is. My mom didn't work at all and stayed home and "so called" raised us. Yeah, that's why my dad had to take off work to take us to our Drs. appts. and he made us breakfast everyday before he went to work while my mom slept. So much for her staying home and "raising" her kids. It's o.k. to go back to work if you have to.

ask around to your friends and family or go to an agency that has listings of childcares the best way to find out is to go visit and sit in to see how you feel with the teachers interaction with the children

Go to the site below. Use the Google search bar on the home page (daycare specific). Do a search for daycare "your area" and it should return good results.

I would ask other mothers that you know that send their kids to daycare! Not a bunch of strangers on the internet.
