I know! It is craziness. People are just so darn snarky these days!
EDIT: What's up with the thumbs down. People are so rude. I guess your point is made. Thank you.

With each generation the teaching of politeness and manners are being put out to pasture. With people just not caring anymore, manners simply go out the window.
As always, if we don't teach our children right, they grow up wrong.
I hope this helps.

Parents are too lazy to teach them, so they expect the schools to teach them ... like teachers don't have enough to do already. As they get older, (into their adolescence) manners are no long "cool" so it all gets dropped. It's very, very sad. It's a sad world when people look at you with surprise when you discuss sending a thank-you note or taking a hostess gift.

Without generalizing, I think that parents do not teach the kids at home anymore the way our parents taught us 30 or 40 years ago. Manners are not practiced as they used to be at one time. We used to say Sir and Ma'am more. We used to use Please and Thank you more often. Now we just take these words for granted, and when our kids use it, they are either mocked or looked at as if they were aliens. Swearing is what comes out of the mouth of kids. That is what is kewl.

We live in such a fast paced world there seems to be no time for manners. People are burdened, weird and scary things happening in our society all the time, people don't trust or like each other. Fortunately, there are people still left to show us that it doesn't cost much to be kind and courteous and still meet our goals. Manners and respect is of utmost importance in any society.

For the same reason they took prayer out of our public school`s,for the same reason they took the 10 commandment`s out of the federal building, for the same reason they took Christ out of Christmas and replaced it with an X, That is why. But some still do,and will. Thank you 4 asking

Because we are disgustingly rude people! Benjamin Franklin should be rolling over in his grave when he thinks about what us Americans have come to be. We should be ashamed, but we can't even pull that off.

There are none, they weren't taught in the generation that now is behind the counters. Don't let it faze you....always say please, always say thank you. People can learn manners at any age.

Thanks for asking!!
I work with the public and what you say is sooooooo true!
I am a server, and people so often neglect to say please and thank-you, it's really appauling!
I will just say "your welcome" sometimes as if they have said thank-you, just to make them think!!
And how about pushing in your chair at a table when you get up? No one ever does that anymore either.
Thanks and have a nice day.
