Most sets have a fixed number of pixels; with plasmas it is 1024 x 768. To keep the same pixel count and reduce the screen size means each pixel has to get smaller. The gas cells in a plasma are limited as to how small they can be made. LCD are 1280 x 720, and can be made with very small pixels, so small screens are feasible. Now LCDs are coming out with 1920 x 1080 resolutions. I strongly recommend you get one of those. Sony, LG, Sharp all make excellent LCD sets. Do a search on http://www.cnet.com/ to find prices, reviews etc. But be sure to look at the sets before you buy; check for black level (when the picture is of a dark scene it should look black, not gray), surface reflections and fall-off in brightness and contrast when you view off-angle.
