The obvious way to stop illegal immigration is not to build a wall (which will cost billions and merely divert the flow), but to go after businesses with strong enforcement and major fines.

Yet no one is doing this. In fact, they've cut the number of people inspecting businesses.

So the question is, are politicians...

1. Trying to enrich their friends in corporations that get the contracts to build these places?

2. Trying to keep a flow of cheap labor to their corporate buddies while still attracting the anti-immigrant vote?

3. Both 1 & 2.

They are doing both of course.

But more to the point, the current administration is diverting public attention to what is really happening with this "issue", which is so NOT important.

Peace.

I agree, if business was fined say a million, if caught hiring any illegal, it would end real fast. The real problem is being able to read and speak English, most immigrants don't feel they should have to. I say this, cause in my workplace they talk their language with no respect that you don't understand what they are saying. I feel like the fu--ing foreigner ! I'm tired of our taxpayers dollars going to fund their educations or help their parents with social security medical benefits, or drain unemployment benefits. These same company's that are trying to bust the middle class workers wages and benefits to reduce their costs, are going to go down with the middle class as they replace us with low wage earners, the tax base goes down, the economy will not grow, stocks won't be worth squat, yes the rich still will be rich, but the streets won't be fun for them anymore, probly not safe either. What happened to our industrial base lately, noticed ? Foreign bought, moving out of big cities over borders, just look ! Wages dropping, benefits shrinking, this will have a major impact soon. The issue at the mexican border is simple, this is an invasion. Our leaders should send every resource to remove these invaders right now. These invaders are boasting in our streets about rights they don't have. Pack the trains, planes whatever, and remove these invaders. Legals, demand action from our government, vote out anyone who supports this invasion, you have rights, use them wisely, protect your interest in this fine country, and don't let our country slip into another fight over what we'll owe this race of people in the future after they were used as slaves in fields, think about it!

Its not really the businesses. They can get in trouble for hiring illegals. It is the small business owner. Like in contracting. They are the ones who pay the illegals under the table.

This is another way that the illegals are breaking the law. If a citizen did this (worked under the table), they would be in trouble.

Politicians are like prostitutes, they will make it no matter what
It is important to build the fence, remember Terrorist are not
coming over to work. Once you build the fence , you go after the
employers. When they cant get a job or social programs, The
illegals will leave on their own..

Everyone knows the fence building program will not work. It's just a palliative from politicians who don't know or won't do anything real to solve the problem.

you say a fence wont work, but it worked at the Glastonbury festival.
ok its not a country and the people breaking in werent 'immigrating' but its a relative example. far too many people trying to get into an area that is too small for them all and they havent got permission to enter.
