Crunches will not make you lose fat from your belly. They will develop the muscles underneath the fat.

You cannot lose fat from a specific part of your body unless you get lipo. It's impossible. All you can do is cardio, which will slim down your whole body. Run enough that you are out of breath/winded/can't go on anymore. It all depends on what kind of shape you are in and how dedicated you are to it.

Belly fat isn't going to be lost very fast no matter how many situps you can do.

The secret in getting rid of excess weight is in what you are eating and how much you are eating. There is a definite balance you have to worry about. If you get too many calories, you will gain weight because that is going to be converted into fat. If you eat too little, your body goes into starvation mode and sucks in every little calorie you eat into body fat. So, even if you eat a lot less... you still gain weight. Scary eh?

When it comes to weight loss, it is 20% activity and 80% diet (what you eat).

If you are just starting to work out, start slow. Get on a treadmill and just walk at a brisk pace for 20-30 minutes. Stretch out.

I started just walking a couple miles a day. Then I started running for 2 minutes at a time with a 2 minute rest. I can now run a mile and a half without stopping. Trust how your body feels. If you are in so much pain from doing situps, you might be doing them wrong. You might consider doing crunches or even (shudder) joining a Pilates class (Pilates is evil!).

If anything, talk to your doctor and see what he says. What you are doing is not easy, but it is worth it. Talk to a doctor if you are unsure how healthy you are to start certain things.

Good Luck!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Cardio is going to be the only thing to blast that fat. You can work your abs hard all day, but without burning off the fat, you won't see your efforts. Keep up the good eating habits. Don't drink juices or pop. if the running was hurting, try an elliptical (if you have a gym membership or they can be purchased) or you can try power walking or biking (anything that will get your heart rate up into your fat burning zone). We cannot control where the body fat comes off (or body chooses where it will melt first), but if you keep at the cardio & a good diet, it will eventually uncover you belly.

the best way to successfully lose belly fat is cardio exercise. obviously it seems that doing sit ups and ab exercises will work.. but, it's not buring any fat by doing that.. you need to watch what you eat, and get at least 30min of exercise daily to see a difference. good luck!

running is the best for overall health. run what you can. try to run at leat 30 min at least 3 times a week. eat healthy. if you eat a lot of junk you won't lose fat. drink water. oh and you can do sit ups with your feet held down. if it hurts your neck, etc., it's because your pulling on your neck too much. have someone stand at your shoulders while you lie down, kick your legs up while you hold on to their ankes. when you throw your legs up at them, they will push them down and you have to try not to let them touch the ground. also suck in your stomach when exercising so your stomach muscles won't bulk out and will stay flat.

you can do the exercises, and the amount you think right for you, but the best thing for belly fat would be pushaways, as in you push yourself away from the table after the first helping, and you push away all those extra snacks.
