The flight attendant information was very helpful, but watch out for the travel agents trying to make money out of Yahoo Answers. Puerto Rico has a lot to offer! You can fit every interest on almost any budget. Visit www.gotopuertorico.com for information on things to do and where to stay; it is very helpful. The passport thing it is not true! You just need a state issued ID to check in with the airline. It is a great place to vacation.... awesome nightlife, gambling, beautiful beaches (Flamenco 2nd best beach in the US, 4th in the world), great resorts, hotels, guest houses,...El Yunque Rain Forest
(the only rain forest in the US Parks System), Camuy's Cave Park (3rd biggest underground river system in the world). In other words.... YOU WILL HAVE LOTS OF FUN!!!!

I haven't stayed there yet, only changed planes through there several times. I can give you feedback based though on 8 years of experience.

Puerto Rico isn't an island that is requested or sold all too often. Not for reasons that no one wants to go there, but in all honesty some of the hotels are quite expensive and people find where they can get virtually the same cost for an all inclusive elsewhere. Puerto Rico also only has a few all inclusives that are actually new and there are several travelers that all inclusive is a preference.

This island is fairly big and has a lot of history more so than really any other island in the Caribbean.

There are several places on the island you can stay. You might want to consider either contacting a local travel agency or you could certainly email me and I can send you my contact information. It can be beneficial in many ways. Help you with what dates might be better in cost if you choose say some and the price isn't very good, we can look at alternative possibilities if you have flexibility. I always ask questions to try and figure out which hotel/resort you will be most pleased with. One resort might be great for one couple, but yet not for another. We can also do our very best in working with the budget you have determined for your trip.

Plus when you make reservations online (if this is something you are considering) there are several hotel photos that are deceiving to people. There are some that are most definitely touched up! Its one thing to get a good price yes, but you also want to get the most you can with your money.

Either way no matter how you chose to book your trip to Puerto Rico have a fantastic experience! Stay in the right area and property and you will love it!

Just an FYI you will need a passport for San Juan, Puerto Rico starting Jan. 8th 2007. Many people are assuming you don’t because of it being a US Territory and I can tell you most definitely you do! If you have one great, but if not try and apply for it right away. Depending on the passport center your application is sent to will determine how long it takes to get it. Some people are getting there’s in 4 weeks others in 12 weeks!

I was a flight attendant for eastern airlines, oddly enough San Juan Puerto Rico was my run. What a beautiful place. You will enjoy every bit of it. I'd like to know where you are staying, because I can give you so many choices as to where to go. Any way, I hope you enjoy yourself. The ocean is outstanding, along with the fantastic restaurants. Old San Juan is the best. Pretty humid, and hot. Oh did I tell you that there is gambeling? You will never find a more gracious place.

Haven't been there in 20 years. However, I found the people most hospitable and welcoming.

The weather is warm & beautiful and every afternoon around 3pm there's a thunderstorm that lasts about 10 minutes then passes.

The only downside I encountered was that late every afternoon EVERYTHING shut down for a couple hours for siesta. Don't know if it's still that way.
