The tenderloin is the inside muscle of the short loin. It is a long tapered muscle extending from the 13th rib to the pelvis. Part of the large end, or butt end, is actually within the sirloin section.

It comes from the loin part of the steer. Think of the small of the back. It is the most under used muscle and as such is the most tender.

it is a piece of meat taken from the steer, it is if i remeber it correctly from the front part of the steer, its a long strip of meat, and it can be cut into steaks, or as a roast....
