DO NOT TAKE THE PIERCING OUT. It acts as a drain. If you remove it and it heals up then the infection and puss has no where to go. If you go to the doctor and he says it is infected, take the antibiotic he will give you to help fight the infection. Also it is very important to do sea salt soaks 2-3 times a day. Take a cup of warm water and mix a teaspoon of sea salt (find in the spices section) in it and let it soak for 5-10 min. What that does is give any bacteria there is a chance to go to a nice warm salty place. Then make sure she rinses her ear out good after. Dont move the piercing around.
I just got an industrial piercing almost 2 weeks ago and I went back to my piercer since my ear was really swollen and she said to stop washing it with the antibacterial soap and just do the sea salt soaks for 2-3 wks until it is better and then go back to the soap.

She can take out the earring and soak in peroxide and clean the ear with peroxide too, really good. Let it dry and put the earring back in. She can then tom. or when she has time take out earring and soak in peroxide and put antibiotic ointment on her ear very vigorously to get in the hole, also on the earring before putting back in. This combination should help, for several days because cartilage is hard to get an infection out of, it's close to bone..not like flesh. So, try it and she needs to keep her hands very clean when touching her ears. Wash hands often always!

First any formost do NOT take it out because the jewelry acts as a drain. Wash twice a day with liquid soap (antibacterial) and use a sea-salt solution on it afterward to reduce swelling. You can buy a premade solution or made your own with a teaspoon of seasalt and a cup a warm water. Good luck! I've been there before!!

She has to keep it really clean! Continue to put claires antiseptic on it, but if it doesn´t stop, she better go see a doctor! Put some ice too, if it starts to hurt.

if it's leaking something white, there is an infection. Even if she uses the cleansing regimen, she may want to be checked by a doctor in case the bacteria gets into the bloodstream.
