I DONT KNOW BUT ITS THE MOST NATURAL THING.THEY ARE IGNORANT OBVIOUSLY. I NURSED 5 OUT OF 6 OF MY KIDS AND FINALLY DECIDED NOT TO LET ANYONE LOOK DOWN ON ME BECAUSE IM DOING WHATS BEST FOR MY BABY AND IF THEY DIDNT LIKE IT THEY DIDNT HAVE TO LOOK.I WAS VERY DISCREET AND NEVER EXPOSED MYSELF SO THEY NEEDED TO GET OVER IT.MY BABY NEEDS TO EAT THEN IM GOING TO FEED HIM WHETHER THEY LIKED IT OR NOT.

Where did you get this information? I am currently breastfeeding, and have breastfeed my other two children as well. I do not go to the bathroom to do it, i do not cover up with a blanket, i will pull my shirt down so my entire breast is not exposed, but other than that....I feel it is the most natural and healthiest thing in the world for my baby, and if someone doesn't like it they can kiss my tooshy! I don't see adults eating their meals in the bathroom or putting blankets over their heads while they are eating, so i don't expect myslef, or any other beastfeeding mom to do it either! Saying all this, i have never had a negative reaction to breastfeeding, and i live in the Good Ol' U. S. of A!

My personal opinion breastfeeding is great for the babies but when and where to do it is the question. I think that if you are going to be in public where you dont have access to a bathroom then you should pump the milk and put it in a bottle. They are people with unhealthy minds and children who may not understand what they are seeing. Breastfeeding is something personal and a bond that should be kept private between mother and child.

I think it's obviously a misconception that people in the US are uptight about breastfeeding. Much like alot of other ridiculous misconceived things about the U.S.

I've breastfed all my children, even in public. The longest I nursed was 2 yrs.... it's a personal decision and I fend off nasty remarks with "wow.. .sounds like you're jealous of a baby eating. I've noticed you shoving food into your mouth like a pig while talking, now tell me what is more disgusting... my baby nursing discreetly or you acting and sounding like a pig?"

I personally could care less what others think of breastfeeding... I'm not worried aobut them.. I worry about my baby needing food.

I don't know ...I did not have that problem and I breastfed all three of my children for about a year and a half each ....my kids are now 12,10,and 4. People shouldn't be uptight about it ...it's completely natural....that is what God originally made breast for . People need to get over themselves......maybe if they had a tit or two they would be alright !!!!

I believe that those that have a problem was never exposed to it themselves. I breastfed both of my girls for almost 2 years. My mother did not like it at all but she never knew anyone that had done it. I think it is a wonderful thing you are doing. Just stick with it and know that you are doing the best thing that you can for your baby and its something that only you can give them. Enjoy the time while it lasts and don't let others discourage you. Congratulations and good luck!

No, I don't think so. Everyone I know is all for it. The doctors I have went to are for it too.

I think mostly some people are against it if the child is older or old enough to have been off of the bottle, but are still breastfeeding.

If they are over two, it just seems a little strange and not right.

They are? I nursed my four kids and at the time, I was in the minority group but it seemed to me that so many more are doing it these past ten years.

I think it is awesome. Whether it has anything to do with it or not, who knows, but my son is 16 now and is 6'2" and nobody in our family is tall! His dad is 5'7", I'm 5'5"..... Both of our dads were shorter than 5'7". My brothers are 5'8". The only one tall is my mom who is 5'8" - and that's not that tall. I was shocked this past year when he grew from 5'6" to 6'2"!!! I seriously think it was the breast milk. In fact, he nursed until he was two (not much, but some) because he was allergic to cows milk. And you know what! He has NO cavities to this day!

I think it's because of the advertising that makes such a big deal about breasts being for sexuality.

That happens in many European countries, too, though.

It is a very personal thing, and really doesn't need to be done in public. I breastfed my 4 children, and don't ever remember having to do it in shopping malls and restaurants. They are only babies for a short time-- do we have to be on the go that much?!

Anyways.... just keep it between you and the baby.
It is much more special that way.

I guess they are not in my part of the US. I have breastfed all 3 of my children and plan to breastfeed the one on the way. No one has ever said anything negative to me about it. Its normal and everything I hear about it is for it. You just hear occasional bad news because that is all anyone wants to hear. Obviously if you say that, then they make it sound pretty bad over here. But I dont see it and Im here.
