At least a few layers if not a lot compared to no layers at all. Layers softens your overall look of the hair.
But you should give a few more details about your hair if you're asking for yourself.

I really love my layers, except the top one is a little long.. my hair has some natural wave to it and it really brings that out by layering the sides, making it lighter and sort of more bouyant.

layers make youre hair less heavy, and more flippy!!!
i have no layers, because i think youre hair grows longer with no layers, but layers look better!

I have to disagree. Layers look good straight as well has blow dried curled. I like to flip mine out.
