What I do is ignore the audience. I just think of it as if they're not there at all.

Whenever I get on stage to perform or speak in front of an audience i pick something or someone to stare at the whole time a talk or perform. So try either one of these things and you won't have stage fright anymore!!!

i usually get nervous and my hands shake a little bit (not really noticeable, but i can feel them).
i think a really good thing to do is to prepare your speech.
whereever the nervous feelings come from, learning the words of your speech better can help to avoid stumbling.
if you have more confidence that you can get the words out easily, maybe you won't be as nervous about being in front of everyone.
similarly, if you think you can learn your material so well that you think you know it better than your audience does, then you might feel less uneasy about speaking on it.
ps: >> i feel weird giving advice about this. speeches *always* make me nervous...

You have to as Shakespeare wrote in Macbeth: But screw your courage to the sticking place and you will not fail. I cheated on that a bit. The original is "we'll " instead of "you will". Just keep doing it. It will get easier. There is an organization called Toastmasters. It is a group of people who get together and practice public speaking in front of each other to improve their speaking skills.
Good luck.

Just keep cool, and remember, EVERY person out there is human, and has dark secrets or skeletons in their closet, they are NOT better than you, so don't be intimidated! Have fun, and enjoy your speech! :)

I also imagine no one is there or that it is my family and they will think I'm fabulous regardless!
