I believe that is exactly what it was. It's the same with all other religious writings.

The truth is the bible was inspired by God for every time (age). You see, God is not restricted by time. His truth is always the truth. So the bible can be read by people even today and speak to the hearts of men. It changes peoples lives and is still the most popular book ever published for a reason. Understanding that Christ is the fulfillment of the law is a hard concept to get your thoughts around. But once you master this concept the rest of the bible falls into place like a crossword puzzle with a picture so beautiful it is indescribable.

Every scripture addresses the needs of the people of the times. What we need to take into account are the eternal truths and drop those practices that are unsuitable for the modern age.
In Hinduism you have two porions in the scripture called the "Sruthis" or eternal values -- that never change with time adnd "Smrithis" which are customs and habits that keep changing with time as communities evolve materially with time. This helps us from getting stuck in a bygone era.
Think and give importance to values than customs that are incompatible with the modern age.
The Bhagavad Gita never says what is good are bad from a worldly point of view because this changes from time to time. What is good or bad today may not be so tomorrow. But at the same time we need to follow the eternal values and principles.

It was written by God (through men) to all generations. For Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.” (Mat 5)
What has changed, however, are the covenant requirements. For the New Covenant brought about fulfillment to the Old Covenant along with new commandments....and an illumination, through the Spirit of Christ, of the very meaning and purpose of all that is written in the Old Testament - which was a shadow of that to come.
If you, or anyone else reading this, would like me to elaborate, feel free to send me an email...

It is more accurate to say that JEWISH or MOSAIC Law is unapplicable as we are not ancient Jews. But one does not need to be a Bible scholar to see which laws were purely Jewish and which were true for all time IE: Dont murder, steal, lie, worship other gods, etc. The Bible is an amazing volume of books that still speaks truth to Christians today! Jesus is risen, he was back then, he is now!

Stoning people was done under the true theocarcy (government of God) because from childhood people were taught the right way to live.
We have no true theocracies in today's world and world leaders, for the most part, are so corrupt they could not administer such a government in the first place.
One rule of thumb for the Old Testament is if you can do what is instructed you probably should do it. For example you CAN do the Ten Commandments and the world is automatically a better place as a result of your obedience in that area.
Should you avoid mixing linen and wool?
The main reason for this rule was to drive out the wizards who used mixed garments in their rituals.

The Bible was written over thousands of years. It was in the council of Nice that it was decided to put together all the writting into one, The Bible. Bible itself means "little books".
It did not have ONE author,as many believe.
One believe is that the Bible was written by a King for his daughter as bedtime stories. That King must of lived to be 3200 years old...wow!

i think that a lot of the things that are on the bible, were things that happened back then, but doesnt necessarily mean we are supposed to do them, pretty much we just got to follow the ten comandments. Those are hard enough to follow as it is. But then again the bible says we are all sinners and I dont think God expects us to be perfect, thats why his son died isnt it? To save us

The Bible is amazingly like a metaphor , they did no longer stone youngsters for conversing returned, they stoned them(them which ability people who did incorrect) for having affairs, for murdering, for breaking the regulation, we deliver human beings to penal complex, we sentence human beings to death. and that i understand of they did no longer sell their daughters, and properly the slaves element human beings do it now(prostitutes, i'm uncertain approximately now yet returned in the day China adult males's better halves and so on.) so properly i do no longer see how its for in basic terms them, the Bible became written for us, you probable have not study the entire Bible and probable don't are conscious of it, so in the previous you opt do those 2 issues. And the Bible is to help us, and to remind us that Jesus died on the bypass for us.

True, there are things in the Bible that have no bearing on the current age but the ideas and morals that they repersent still have bearing today.
