ZEEBYA- im sorry for your trouble,of course i do not agree that two people who are kissing should be threatened with violence, arrested and be considered sex offenders-BUT you were not with a child under 14,and it was not classified as a violent sex act right? these men both had there charges as VIOLENT sex act with a child under 14.so apparently you didnt read the whole question put forth,or you chose to ignore that part.

It's public information and you are entitled to share it with whoever you want. That way you can help other people protect their families.

They have the rights that the law gives them. Which is pretty nice of us, since they chose to break it

These people have already paid the price for the crimes they have committed. I don't agree with you 'warning' your landlord, but the offender records are public for a reason and that is to protect people with children. That being said, a good number of these people probably shouldn't be on a list, and a lot of people who could be a danger to your child won't show up there. I think the better approach is to just teach your child about the dangers from anyone including people like relatives and teachers, without scaring or overwhelming the child, and then being a vigilant parent yourself.

PS not all of these people are pedophiles, maybe a 14 year old girl told a 17 year old boy she was legal and they had consensual sex and then her parents found out and charged him and that got him on the list. You don't know the circumstances so you shouldn't assume they are evil and will do it again. You just need to take reasonable precautions around these and ANY of your neighbours. There's enough hate out there already....

Sorry, but I don't think it was your business to tell anyone about the "sex offenders" in your area. If they did their time, and have stopped their behavior, who are you to try to make their lives harder?
I was arrested once, for being with another man on a hike 'way back in the woods, where nobody else would normally go. We were kissing, and suddenly a ranger who apparently had been stalking me arrested us on lewd conduct charges. We had all of our clothes on, and were only kissing, but because we were two Gay men, he arrested us. He actually threatened to have us beaten-up, but luckily another ranger made him back off. Still, they put me in jail for 6 days!
In some states, I would now be classified as a sex offender! That's just hogwash! So, the people you took it upon yourself to "out" may actually have been given a bum rap. And you may have only made matters worse!

Quite right, I should have addressed the violence aspect. And I didn't commit a violent act during the incident I mentioned. I was, however, the victim of physical violence on the part of my step-father, who was an ex-sheriff, from the time I was 11 until about 16. He also broke my mother's neck barehanded. So, I guess that if they had a database for people like him, I'd probably take advantage of it, too. I do realize you're only protecting your children.
Best to you.

Ever think about just saying "hello", like any other neighbor? Don't believe EVERYTHING you read on the internet about sex offenders, as they are not always factual. This is why it is dangerous to make assumptions & start mouthing off before you know what's really going on. Court transcripts & Police Reports are the only real proof that contain facts regarding the crimes. Your Mother is a wise woman. You left your neighbors with a loaded gun & you moved away before you checked the safety latch. Shame on you. I know you meant well, but next time, investigate before you instigate & violate.

the perfect proof of sex offenders is

DATELINE NBC their report of predators. do i really need to say more. well here it is.

I told people including a school about 10 predators listed in my own area within 1 mile of my own home and 2 who were within 6 houses from my daughter’s bus stop. That scared me. Especially sense the one six house was arrested for child porn and child prostitution charges, you know where we have the right to warn people. We are parents, sibling and care for other people children and their safety. I am only 5 miles from ELEMENTARY SCHOOL I have a right to know who is any where near my child. Here is another reason last week. In fact last Friday a vehicle approached my own daughter after getting off the bus. That man exposed himself to my daughter. My own is under 14. My daughter gets mad because I wont let her or her sibling play in the front yard or walk to a park by themselves. Well that act from a stranger is one reason, a reinforces reason why we have A RIGHT to tell people about these people. There is no cure, but lock up. Another reason we have a right to know people move state to state, people move from one house to another. Some don't even report their location, which is the law. I don't care if the person it happens to was over 14. A sex crime is still a sex crime. Another reason I feel people have a right to know such crimes. I made friends with people I felt I could trust. They were friends of mine for 4 years before I found out that the grandfather and me and my entire family have been around, my children where babysat by them and when my youngest was around 2 and still in diapers. We found out the grandfather was arrested for acts with a child under 14. My youngest was afraid of bathrooms when we had to change her in a business. My daughter has a brain condition so we thought it was something to do with that. Then we didn't see the grandfather for a while and when we asked they didn't say where he was. So we just thought he was at a store when we would show up. Then we asked around others and they said he was in jail and still wouldn't say why. So we thought maybe it was a traffic ticket issue. So we just brushed it off. Then the family started acting distant. So we became very concerned, now this was 3 months later when we questioned why he was in jail. So my husband went to the criminal public records and found out why he was arrested. That’s when we found out what he did. We freaked. We took my child to a doctor right away. They said 3 months was to long to find out if anything did happen to her. He pleads guilty. He is in prison for life. The scary part also. It was his 2nd offense. They never told us.

Everyone has a right to know when someone is convicted of a sex crime, especially if they plead guilty, like the scarlet letter it should be branded to them and seen by all for the rest of their life.

Your mother's attitude could cause the death of an innocent child. I'm so glad you were sensible enough to warn some of the neighbors. Is there any way for you to check that those neighbors spread the word to the rest of the neighbors? No matter what you hear, pedophiles never change - even when they are quite old. Once they inflict their evil on a child, the child never forgets. I'll never understand why these people are allowed to walk free.

It isn't a violation of anyone's rights to tell others about a possible threat. If you beat them up with a baseball bat, that would be different, but no, warning neighbors is no crime or invasion of privacy. I personally would put up really large posters in front of all the houses in the neighborhood with a picture, name, and address of the sex offender.

The offender sites are there for the genral public's protection. I agree that everyone needs to be aware of who is the area.
Would you allow your child in a car with a known DUI offender?
I wouldn't.
People can change but habits are hard to break.
Informing the area of who and what is around does not in my opinon violate there rights. They did the crime and now they have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

Good Luck and God Bless.

You did the right thing! This information is public information anyway. These people don't have any rights more than you and me, if they are criminals, that is normal (and it's the best thing to do) that you warn people who don't know in order to protect them ... I don't understand why they allow these pedophiles to live among us, they are dangerous criminals.

By giving the information to your neighbors, you acted as a real good citizen ... parents will be more protective with their children, now they know that there are pedophiles next door. You are a hero, I thanks God for people like you.
