What are the requirements into getting a pilot school or an aviation one? Like Embry Riddle or Spartan? Do they care about grade point average in high school and is it competitive to being accepted there?

I was accepted into Spartan when I was 19. I only scored a 23 on my ACT and I had a horrible GPA. If you have the money or can finance it they are sure to talk to you. They charge a pretty hefty fee to have a recruiter come to your house and ask you questions. Almost like an interview. I ended up not going to Spartan and just going to the now shut down school "Airman flight school" where you didn't pay 56K just 33K from Private to MEI. And while your doing all this Spartan only gives you an Associates degree. No BA by the way back then that was another 20K. Check out your local University's or 141 approved training centers. All that matters is hours to an airline. NOT ONE says you have to have a college degree. If you get your CFI and fly for a year or two, rack up 1500 hours you will find a job just as fast as someone that went to spartan and be a better pilot for it. but that's my 2 cents.

Sorry about that. I put that on the wrong post. I belive it was on another Question that you listed a web site that tells days in the life of pilots and training you should go thru. I found it very interesting. Good luck in your school selection! Flight school is the best school in the world...and for the best job in the world.

Like any college you need a good SAT score and decent high-school grades to get into E-R or Spartan, but they aren't like trying to get into MIT or UCLA. There are usually plenty of openings in both schools. I went to Spartan for avionics over 20 years ago, and we work on instruments for the planes for E-R's flight department.

They are very expensive schools, but their entrance requirements are very similar to other schools. I see that you are interested in becoming a pilot. I am a licensed airline transport pilot and a USAF C-5 Galaxy Instructor pilot. I will gladly answer any other questions that you may have...
