all addicts have a different trigger. The common ones, are stress related to relationships, job, money, friends etc.I worked in the addiction field for 15 years and have heard many stories. An alcoholic will drink because the sun is shining or because the sun is not shining. The important thing is to recognize what the stressors are and try to find a better way to cope

Commonly ACCEPTED trigger? I would have to say none.
Different addictions have different triggers. For example, if you're an alcoholic it could be as simple as a beer commercial. If you're addicted to smoking whatever, it could be a simple smell of a match or the sight of rolling papers or a cigarrette butt for that matter. Get it? I hope this answers your question.

Trigger is Roy Roger's Horse....If the recovery effort being made is truthful to the person in recovery, relapse is not an option or even an after thought.

I think a trigger could be just about anything. Being around certain people, music, certain places or anything that reminds them of drinking or using drugs.

I would imagine that being with someone using the "addictive" substance in question wouldn't help a lot.
