Typically "dry" wines are not considered "sweet" wines, they're pretty much opposite. But, some Chardonnays are a little on the sweet side, start there.

Okay, if I'm understanding you properly, you want a wine that has similar flavours to a dessert wine but that is drier than a dessert wine.
My suggestion would be one of the following three:
Semi-Dry Riesling
Sauvignon Blanc
Gewurztraminer
The last one of the three will probably have a hint of spice to it but all three are generally fruity in taste. If you go for a Riesling, make sure it is a semi-dry Riesling and not a dry Riesling. The dry Riesling's tend to have a more minerally taste than a fruity or floral taste.

Dessert wines tend to be very sweet, so as no to be overwhelmed by the sweetness of the dessert you're having with it. Dry wines are not sweet. However, if you want a dry wine that's also fruity, try a pinot noir. It's a light, fruity, dry red. Or if you want a white wine, reisling or gwertstraminer would be a good dessert wine, but they're very very sweet. I usually have sauvignon blanc when I order white. It's light and dry with grassy/pear aromas and flavors.

i admire Robert Mondavi private selection Merlot. This vinter makes plenty greater high priced wine yet i will't arise with the money for it. I supply bottles to my aunt and uncles each and every Christmas and serve it at numerous events. Priced between $10 - $15. "Merlot Our Robert Mondavi private selection Merlot is made with grapes predominantly from California's Monterey County appellation. There, the vineyards savour a nightly blanket of cool Pacific Ocean fog, surprising soils and a protracted turning out to be season. This suitable mixture brings shiny flavors and silky tannins to our Merlot which contain luscious layers of berry, plum and spice with easy o.ok.nuances from barrel-getting older."

Although definately not "dry" (i agree with Beth on that one) my favourite sweet/fruity white is "Brown Brothers, Crouchen Reisling" around $12-14 a bottle.
