For the past few months I have rarely had a decent BM. I just poop little smushed balls. I also have a umbilical hernia, but that doesn't seem to bother me. I woudl love to add or delete stuff from my diet to get me on a more regular track.

I have gotten many suggestions to eat more fiber. But I eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Could it be something else?

be careful before taking over the counter laxatives. it is not true that everyone needs them. i took one once and it was awful!!!

start by adding more fiber to your diet first. eat a lot of fruits and veggies. fruit has a laxative effect. eat lots of apples and pears. apples are at their peak right now. so they will be fresh and delicious! vitamin c has a laxative effect in high doses so you could try drinking a lot of OJ. magnesium is a natural laxative (think milk of magnesia). so eat more whole grains, nuts, beans, seeds, fish, avocados, and leafy green vegetables.

if this doesn't help, try an OTC fiber supplement before using a laxative.

If you are pooping little balls that means your poop is inside you too long. Meaning you are constipated. Add some fiber to your diet. Also take a laxative every now and then. It won't hurt you. Puts you back on the path to regularity.

You need more fiber, and maybe more liquids.

Natural fiber is best, but if you want quick fix, buy Wal-mart Equate for Metamucil pills, which is psyllium, and take 5 or 6 a day, with lots of water.

Also, stool softeners, ditto on Wal-mart Equate.

I was told that if you pass small round bowel movements that you may be constipated. Try a laxative. If I'm wrong, it won't hurt you because everyone needs to take a laxative once in a while. It rids the toxins and poisons on your intestines

well, of course you are going to feel horrible if you take a laxative, it helps your body get rid of everything in your digestive tract.......get more fiber though........not just fruits and veggies......eat a bowl of a whole grain cereal every morning, like frosted mini wheats, or raisin bran........i hear orange peelings are good in fiber too........and are good for you.......
