I have created a series of oil paintings representing the female nude but it's difficult to find galleries "brave" enough to handle them. Understand, these are not titilating or erotic nudes, they are just realistic and well painted. Does anyone have any suggestions for where to market or contacts who may be interested?

They are advertised on three dealer's websites and on my private website. Typical responses from comercial galleries have been, wonderful, well painted, original but challengeing, too strong to hang on a living room wall.

Why seek the gallaries when you can open a website for as little as zero dollars? Your kind of art appeals to a section of people who will go searching for it wherever it is. Galleries may not have this kind of audience.

It's not 'bravery' the art galleries lack. It's an audience for the kind of traditional, conservative, trite art that classical or realistic nudes exemplify. If you're going to paint a subject as over-painted and over-seen as a nude, you better do it differently than anyone else or you're wasting time, paint, and...did I mention time?

Maybe try on Ebay. I am not sure what their policy is. Also, see if a local restaurant would allow you to hang your art work on their walls. In our town is a local art guild, where members can sell their paintings and other arts.

Try a few bars...they often need nudes to hang over their bottle of booze.
