anytime you are trying to steal music, video or software, you take the chance of getting more than you bargained for.
I won't allow Bear Share or any other P2P software on any of my computers.
Anyone found using it is subject to dimissal.
If you'll willing to steal from musicians, actors/studios, software companies, etc, you'll be more likely to steal from your employer as well.

Your connection to the Yahoo.com server is a p2p connection, just as is BearShare, Limewire, Kazaa, etc.

Can Yahoo.com connection cause your computer to 'break'?

yes. just as getting on the bus makes people get aids from sex.

The problem is the vulnerability of the system or person who is exposed to those virus!

Besides, I run behind firewalls (stand alone hardware ones! Like IPCOP http://ipcop.org ), all my computers run Linux ( http://pclinuxos.com or others at http://livecdlist.com ), and, I don't open mail from spammers, or from strangers...

But, linux is immune to all 150,000 "Microsoft Virus Definitions"!

So, in conclusion, the chances are highly in favor of your computer breaking down because you run Microsoft, are extremely vulnerable to all the 150,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions, and won't even test your computer with the LiveCDrom, to see that the 'Broke Down' part is the Microsoft operating system, not any hardware.

It is highly unlikely, but BearShare is full of adware, and the new versions force updates through viral methods. You don't say what broke down, what version of Windows you have, how old your machine is, so it is pretty hard to tell what happened. The only 2 times my computer actually broke down were hardware related, like a video card.

it might, or the file you downloaded had a virus in it.
