I for one think it's because the fundamentalists have hijacked faith and are espousing all kinds of horrible ideas, like:

Why is Islam crusading against all the rest of the world? Islams started this fight, not Christians or other faiths. I have never heard such things like "Kill all Muslims, Persecute all Homosexuals, Stop all scientific research, Jesus is coming soon. etc, etc, etc,." and I have been to over 50 different countries, including both Christian and Islamic nations. I think a lot of Islamic extremists make up things like this to try to justify their hateful actions. Many Islamic extremists are specifically looking for an excuse to do something hateful and kill people, including using false information from the internet or news. Many Muslim websites and news medias deliberately spread this false information to fuel hatred against other religions.
It is very interesting how I didn't hear a single Muslim outcry when 9/11 happened.
The Cole was blown up and I didn't hear the Muslims utter a whisper of apology.
The Muslims were extremely silent when the Khobar tower was blown up.
However, some tiny little Scandanavian country puts a cartoon in a newspaper and suddenly the Muslim extremists are outraged, there's a Muslim uproar, another reason to be hateful and blow something up. Muslims don't mind seeing mass homocide against other religions but are outraged at a stupid cartoon; do you realize how idiotic that sounds? Other religions are very tolerant of Islam but Muslims are extremely intolerant of other religions.
Personally, I don't have a problem with the Islamic faith. I don't have a problem with any faith. But unlike most religions, Islamic extremists believe that they somehow have the right to kill everybody else and are looking for any excuse possible to justify their actions, including using false information from Islamic news medias and internet sites. This is the reason why many people are developing opposing views to Islam.

Wow, you are truly the epitome of the moral equivilence. You are the reason that the world is going down the toilet. The reason the west is fighting Islam, is because Islam provokes the west. The muslims will not rest until the world lives under sharia law. I can't decide if you are really that ignorant, or if you're just bored.

has nothing to do with islam.. i know almost nothing about their beliefs, and therefor, could not possibly have anything against their religion. it has everything to do with the levels of violence coming from the people of that faith. the homosexuals... well, thats just gross, so i don't much care for them either.. stop all scientific research? first i've heard of that..... jesus is coming soon? that may be, but what does it have to do with the other issues u bring up?

While our war is in the middle east, that does not equate to crusading against islam. A lot of it is politically motivated. Right now, we're just trying to form a pro-US government over there that becomes stable.

It is the natural progression of the state of fear that the government needs it's citizens to live in. After the Cold War, America needed a new enemy so people didn't feel immortal. Essentially, when you have no fear of dying, you have no sense of urgency to do anything...buy a house, shop, procreate...you feel a need to live the moment when you think there may be no tomorrow. So, what better state of fear than to create a terrorist that they can't find. Why do you think the housing market has been booming for the past 4 years? Because interest rates are down? This helps for sure, but its mostly because people don't know what's going to happen tomorrow so they act now. They are acting out of fear...what a great motivator!

i think you may be a bit misguided. America does not have just one religion, so you're making a incorrect generalization. America is crusading against terrorists who hide behind the religion of Islam.

I think you need to do a little more reading, America is far from crusading against Islam. If anything Muslims are crusading against everyone who is not Muslim.

America is not crusading against Islam. I do not hate homosexuals, and science is just fine with me...unless it contradicts the bible, which of course I believe.
You're right about one thing though...Jesus IS coming soon.
