Breastfeed a 2 year old? Are you nuts? Sounds like some dependency problems to me.

I am participating in extended breastfeeding with my son who will be two in a three months.
We do not breastfeed in public any more because he is too easily distracted and I can no longer discreetly do it.
He is also breastfeeding less than before so it's not necessary to breastfeed in public.
The World Health Organization strongly recommends breastfeeding until 2 yrs of age. There are so many studies that show the incredible benefits of extended breastfeeding.
My child is not a clingy mama's boy either! He is independent and curious. I am happy I am able to give him the gift of a healthier life and a higher IQ!!

OK i can't say that i have because i have not yet but when my baby turns 2 i am sure i will be and there is not a thing wrong with it i do not care what other people think because first of all it is none of their concern and second of all do we point and stare when they give their children bottles or cups or snacks do we say you can't feed your child because if you look at it from my view if some one looks at you in disgust then they are basically saying you can't feed your child and that i think is wrong so i say more power to you feed them when and where you want because there is no law saying starve your child

Ask me in a couple months. :-)
My daughter is 22 months old and still going strong. My son is 3.5 months old and I tandem nurse both of them.
There's that tired line "When they can ask for it, they're too old." Well, I can't think of anything better than my child being able to articulate what she wants. It makes nursing MUCH easier.
I nurse them both in public and have never been on the receiving end of negativity for it. Even if someone had the gall to say something, it wouldn't stop me. I know I'm doing the best thing for my children in being responsive to them and meeting their nutritional and immunological needs.

Boyfriends and husbands are breast feed all the time to up about age 106, although sightings in public after age 70 are considered quite rare.

Breastfeeding is completely natural and you shouldn't be embarassed about feeding your child in public. My god, people don't think twice about giving a baby a bottle in a store, so why not let him nurse?

I nurse my son until he was over 2 1/2 years old. I did it in public if he wanted to nurse. Nothing is wrong with it. He would turn to me and ask. Please drink Be-boos ( His name for my breasts) and I would sit down he would climb up into my lap and undo my nursing bra and nurse. when he was done. He would go to the other side and nurse. He weaned him self off of me in late april in mid may I found out I was pregnant again. I will nurse my 2nd son as long as he wants to nurse. You should allow your children to wean off of you.

Good for you for having breastfed for so long, but I think it's time you started weaning your chlild. As far as breastfeeding your child in public- I would't unless you wanna get dirty looks from stangers.

the world health organization recommends AT LEAST 2 years of breast feeding b4 completely weaning from breast milk, so 2 years old or slightly older probably really isn't all that uncommon.
