Yes, The dealer can run the vin and give some specs as far as motor and tranny and such things, also dealers have books that show when and where the car parts come from, those books are hard to come by, I have one for 95 models.

Yes. By specs I guess you want to know about options and not vehicle history? You can take the VIN to a dealership for that brand of vehicle, and they will give you what is commonly known as a Build Sheet. It will tell you all the options that were included on that particular vehicle. This info includes drivetrain, original color, any options that were added before the vehicle was originally sold, and often times it might include options that were added at a dealership after the car was sold ... like a buyer might have added a trailer hitch before taking posession. You can also email many manufacturers with the same info and get the same results. I have done this for every vehicle I have owned because I like to know.

Yes, but you have to input the vin on CARFAX or some other comparable service.

NO... YOU NEED TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTICS COMPUTER PLUG IT IN AND IT WILL TELL YOU EVERY THING... ALL MECHANICS HAVE THEM
