We get gas at the same place. We use the same grade of gas. I keep mine serviced regularly. Ok, I drive just a wee bit faster, but not enough to make a 5-8 mile per gallon difference!

I've put a K & N air filtering system on it and a Flow Master exhaust. That has helped. Our engines are the same size, but I have noticed that mine has a quicker response on the gas pedal.
Serviced means the works--regular oil changes (I use synthetic everything!), all fluids checked, just had the 30k flush, tires rotated and balanced. It may be just the modifications, but the techs tell me it's the exact same engine in both.

Just a bit faster or floor it when you get the chance when a Dodge Hemi, Ford Lightening, or Chevy Silverado needs dusting off! Just try this trade trucks for one tank full. Yes the 2006 has a little more advanced engine management. Did you ever consider your might be the Big Tow package and his the regular Titan? Does yours have a transmission temp gage and his not? That would explain the difference. I work for Nissan. Your mileage may vary. About 5 mpg for Big Toe! er-a Tow

Well they have probably made some improvements to the engine in two model years. Also, driving a wee bit faster, does have a big effect on the gas milage. I read that for every 5 mph that you drive over the speed limit is like paying 20 cents more per gallon at the pump. Speed is not the only factor though. If you take off like a bat out of hell at the light or drive hard in other situations too you are using excess gas.

The newer engine may be more energy efficient. You say you service your car regularly, but does that include changing your air filter, checking tire pressure and having your tires rotated. All these can rob you of additional mpg. Plus driving faster does use more gas.

The aftermarket air filter and exhaust system will drop your fuel economy. That coupled with the fact that you admit driving faster is good for at least a 5 mpg difference.

Other things to take into consideration are your driving habits. If he drived more highway miles and you do more intown driving, that will cause a difference, as well.

The newer vehicle is probably more "enhanced" to get better gas mileage. Manufacturers have made great strides in the last few years to get more power out of a vehicle with a smaller engine and better gas mileage. Yes, even a 2 year difference could matter.

Do they have the same engine? What exactly has "serviced regularly" consisted of? Are you sparks new? Tires properly inflated? If you drive with a lead foot, that can knock you back 5 mpg. I was on a road trip with my friend and the car got terrible milelage when she was driving. Hey, why don't you trade cars with your boyfriend for a tank and find out how much that effect is?

Maybe the "quicker response on the accelerator" has nothing to do with the modifications and everything to do with your right foot. That could explain the diffrence in mileage. Either that or he is just messing with and not telling the truth about his mileage just to make you wonder why.

k & n air filter system lets in more air than the stock intake. which means your engine sucks in more and and uses more fuel. and you have that aftermarket exhaust too. take in more air, use more fuel, push out more exhaust...since you didn't say he had anything done i'm guessing it's just your mods. Try keeping your tires at the correct air pressure and such as well.
