I am just curious if there is anyone out there who is a full-time caregiver for a sick family member, who might be interested in chatting? I live with and care for my terminally ill father and sometimes it's very difficult. Although I have one friend who has been through a similar situation, I want to connect with people who are experiencing this now so we can compare. Thanks!

I am a former certified nursing assistant and had done it for 25 years. I took care of old folks and some childrens. I love taking care of them and giving loving care. Last year my mom was in a home and when I could I would go and stay with her and also I would help the girls there bathe her and dress her and they really enjoy my help. But now I not able to do that stuff but if I could I would like to do it again. I wish you all the luck in your caring of father. Spend as much time as you can with him because he won't always be here. so love and take care. I know it gets hard but know one thing you are doing for him and loving him help him get through his time of suffering. You know God is always there to help you just as him. Hope this help a little bit.

It is very difficult to take care of anyone who is ill and be able to get your own needs taken care of at the same time. It can put a great deal of stress on yourself. If you need to talk about this you can e-mail me crazyjenn78418@yahoo.com.
You can always look in the classified want ads and you will see many people wanting to be able to work for you without having to go through a company that will charge you an arm and a leg. People are even willing to work like 12 hours on the weekend, or like 4 hours a day. These are some options you should really consider. You wont feel so stressed out and at the same time you won't feel guilty because you are still there for him without putting him in a nursing home. There are also adult day care places, but the best way and probably cheapest way would be to hire someone who works private care, just make sure you check their background and if they are certified in nursing of any kind you can get their certification card number and run it through to make sure they haven't been reported for any kind of abuse......best of luck to you

Seems like we are in a similar situation. My dad is also critically ill and I know how it feels -- some days it is just so hard. Hang in there!
