I would say that about 25-30% of americans are republicans... Most of the democrats don't vote though, and most of the republicans do, so it's pretty even at the poles.

It seems to be "in the neighborhood" of about 25%. "Froggie" above is implying something important, which is that many people ARE gay but aren't willing to say so -- perhaps not even to themselves.

I didn't realize being against socialism (democrats goal) had anything to do with sexual orientation.
