Your wife will know when it is time. She will get contractions about 5-7 minuts apart. and if her water does not break by then, then take her to the hospital when she is uncomfortable. She will most likely tell you. And do not do what my hubby did and freak out and spill oj all over. He thought when I said I need to go to the hospital, that ment to haul *** and drive crazy. Most likely it will take plenty of time before the baby actually comes out.
I am very happy for you and know you will be great. The whole father hood thing will come natural.

And so you should be proud! When i was pregnant I always added an extra 2 weeks on whenever someone asked how long I had left to go as 2 weeks after the due date she will be induced & no longer!
I didn't get on with being pregnant, the 2nd pregnancy was with twins so that was a bad one, but I must say I loved giving birth. My eldest arrived in 5 hrs & the twins arrived in just 2 & a half hrs. When your bundle of joy is ready to come out expect a few bad words from your wife, my partner really got an earful whilst the contractions were coming on but during the pushing you should be safe although a good idea to wear padded gloves because she will be squeezing your hand so hard a couple of fingers may drop off!
My partner nearly threw up when my eldest was born as the head crowned then went back in (so I was told) but once she was out he was very emotional! With the twins it was a bit different as there were so many people in the room he couldn't really see but he was there to offer me his hand to squeeze (which is still intact!).
After both pregnancies I was very emotional, I was happy one minute & then snapping the next. Your wifes hormones will be all over the place so anything you can do to help her relax after giving birth (take the baby out, feed her, bath her etc) should reduce the mood swings!
All in all having a baby is amazing, it's hard work obviously but extremely rewarding! I hope all goes well for you both during the birth & I wish you all the luck & happiness for the future!

Take her walking, that has been known to help the baby drop and induce labor naturally. She will feel mor crampy as she walks which is good. Go for about 1 mile walks about 3 times per day.
Plus it's a good time to talk to her and tell her how excited you are to be having a baby with her!

Wait to see if her water breaks then if the contractions are getting less than 5 minutes apart take her to the hospital As fast as you can without getting pulled over on the way

It could be anything. The waters may braek or it maybe conctractions getting stronger and stronger. Its the $64,000 question. Its different for everyone. For all you know you could be like this for up to the next 2 weeks. Its different for everyone and this part is the worst (and best) because you are constantly thinking anytime now.....
Enjoy it and good luck, ths time is precious!!!

When I started labor it started as back pain around the lower back-waist area. Not very strong, but constant. That continued for about 6 hours and then my water broke.

Your waiting to be told your never going to have sex again. LOL. She will tell you when it is time. Be her support. Do as she asks during labor. Be the best friend she could ever have. Good luck and congratulatons.
