The word Allah, according to several Arabic lexicons, means "the Being Who comprises all the attributes of perfection", i.e. the Being Who is perfect in every way (in His knowledge, power etc.), and possesses the best and the noblest qualities imaginable in the highest degree.

It’s not surprising that the same word translated in Sanskrit (The oldest Language) comes to “Bhagawan”. (Bhag – Oppulences or Perfection, wan- the Possesor). The word Bhagavan is explained by great authority Parasara Muni, the father of Vyasadeva : “The Supreme Personality who possesses all riches, all strength, all fame, all beauty, all knowledge and all renunciation is called Bhagavan.”

Some however say that Allah word come from Al (the) + Ilah (God). ilah word is again derived from Sanskrit word “isha” meaning Controller. Hence Allah also means the Supreme Controller.
