Been there done that. Once I dumped a pot of boiling water down my shirt.

Run it under cold water for several minutes. Also rubbing your hands together can help, because the friction converts the heat and moves it from your hands to the air. If it starts blistering, call your parents and get to a hospital.

I used to wind up burning or cutting myself every time I cooked because I was really clumsy growing up. Still am. By the time I finished high school, I was so used to getting burned, I could stick my hand in cooking bacon grease without hurting myself.

Partly it hurts because of it's location. Keep a cool cloth on it for a while. Check it and see if there's a blister forming. If you have a blister you have 2nd degree burns. If it turns black its 3rd degree. You should let your mom or dad know. If it blisters don't pop it, keep it covered loosely and let it start healing - don't pop it. If it turns black and "crunchy" you need to have your folks check it and probably see a doctor. You should probably show your folks anyway. I'd want me kids to let me know if they got hurt.

Next time turn on the cold water first and drain it under the cool water - it helps protect your hand.
