Is it possible to hack an old printer to make it a PC controlled robot?

I have an old HP 882c printer and I want to make it into a PC remote controlled computer.... I want to make a program so that it waves something around in a certain way continuously. Is this possible? Is there some website that would help me do this?

The previous answer gives you the lead. The first answer provides the tool. Use the hachet to clear the debris around the print head. The print head moves laterally in the X (or Y) plane. Weld/meld/solder one of those plastic clapper toys to the print head. Now send appropriate characters to the printer port - as simple as putting one letter at each extremity of your Word document and sending it off to print. Watch the clapper wave in the X (or Y) plane.

You would need to program the computer to send predetermined characters to the port the printer is attached to. I have no idea how you would make the printer wave when the characters were received.

I would suggest "hacking" it with a small hatchet.
