I once dated a guy that was about 15 years older than I am, I was 23 when the relationship started. It worked for a while, we were together for over 2 years. It took a while for the relationship to go to pot, he was too set in his ways, he wasn't willing to change or compromise. We had a lot of other issues but one of the biggest ones for me was that he always made me feel stupid, not because he was mean, because he wasn't. He never actually called me stupid but any of my ideas or desires were never good enough. I think sub-conceously he thought he was smarter than me because he was so much older than me & had more experience in life.

It is hard when there is that big of an age differance to have the same life desires, I would start asking her a lot of questions. Like; Do you want children?
What if I cheat on you?
What if you cheat on me?
Do you want to work for the rest of your life?
Do you want to stay @ home with the kids?
What is her financial situation?
How much debt is she in?
What is your financial situation?
How much debt are you in?
Is this just for the intimacy or sex?

Try being with out her for a 3-6 month period with no contact @ all see how you feel then. Will she go on with her life? Will it be easier to for you after being with out her for that long? If the relationship between the two of you is right then a seperation will help get things into perspective. It also might let you know what her true intentions are, if she has sticking power.

That's not necessarily too much of an age difference (not if she's in her 20's). It all depends if you both are seeking the same thing in a relationship.

We can never stop thinking about the ones we really like. If you don't continue with the relationship, you'll have to let it fade into just a pleasant memory, though, lest it turns into an unhealthy obssession.

17 years is way too much. I'm 24, I have my own place, car, going to school, pay all my own bills, I am very mature and I love older men. However, I would not consider a serious relationship with an older man b/c you require too much. Young girls need someone we can grow old "with". Get over her.

I do not think that you are making a mistake. Especially if she is very mature for her age. Take that step and find out for sure if she likes you.
