The Bible never says that Mary was anyone but an ordinary human female whom God chose to use in a extraordinary way. Yes, Mary was a righteous woman and favored by God (Luke 1:27-28). Mary was also a sinful human being just like everyone else – who needed Jesus Christ as her Savior just like everyone else (Romans 3:23; 6:23-24). Mary did not have an “immaculate conception” – there is no Biblical reason to believe Mary’s birth was anything but a normal human birth. Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus (Luke 1:34-38), but she did not remain a virgin her entire life. In fact, Joseph and Mary had several children together after Jesus was born. Jesus had four half-brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). Jesus also had half-sisters but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:55-56).

being a Catholic i'm a little biased and disappointed in my fellow Christians. while the Rcc offers more teaching of and love toward Mary, she is not worshipped of her own accord. just to clear the air, Catholics know that without God choosing her, without her being the Mother of His Only Son, she would just have nbeen another woamn and not a figure int he bible at all.
Mary should be honoured just as any mother. How many people called their best friends mom, mom growing up? how mnay people then , love Christ with all their hearts and consider Him your friend? God CHOSE Mary, He didn't have too, yet it was His choice for her to raise His Son, to teach, coddle, suckle and instill honor, love and faithfulness, to teach right from wrong. while some thing Mary was just a by product, I do not, as God made her a very vivid product. Jesus listened to her - think about Canna.... His last concern while on the Cross was the care of His mother. Mary was told, as scripture tells, that a sword would pierce her heart so that she would know the thoughts of many. I believe that God gave us Mary as another example of how to stand by God & Jesus in all things.

From Genesis to Revelation, from Bethlehem to Cana to Calvary, the most powerful procession of images in Scripture is the dazzling vision of the Woman and her Seed, the Virgin and her Son, the Queen-Mother and the King, the Daughter of Zion and the messianic Son of Man, the New Adam and the New Eve. This striking sequence of scriptural icons locked itself into the minds and hearts of the Christian faithful, starting with the Apostolic Community of the first century, the first Fathers and the earliest Councils, and resulted in a vast treasury of doctrinal and devotional masterpieces. The union of Mother and Son in the Son's mission of salvation and in the war against the Serpent is a persistent theme of Scripture mirrored in Christian doctrine and devotion through the centuries. This union of the New Adam and the New Eve has been portrayed from a wide variety of perspectives, the most recent being the union of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. To see the Son without the Virgin Mother, the Seed without the Woman, the King without the Queen-Mother, the New Adam without the New Eve is to do violence both to Scripture and to all of Christian history. For the Christian who enters the mind of the New Testament Church, the idea of "Jesus alone" without Mary is as unthinkable as the idea of the New Testament alone without the Old or the divinity of Jesus without the Humanity.

As a Catholic, I believe that Mary played and important role in the life of Jesus and she should also play and important role in our lives as Christians. This is shown in the following: "When Jesus saw His mother there, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby (John), He said to His mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home."
John I believe signifies all Christians and he tells us to take his (Jesus) mother and love her as we would our own mother.
And for those people who claim that Catholics are worshipping Mary, I say that Jesus left her as another example of what a servant is. The Bible also says, "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women". So she has a special connection to Jesus, and we pray to her to ask for her prayers to God.

As Christians, we should view Mary as one of God's servants like anyone else. God used Mary like He used Noah, Adam, Eve, Abraham, Isaac, etc. - He had a purpose for them and He also has a purpose for you as a Christian. Mary was born in sin like everyone else was from Adam and Eve but God uses us sinners to perform His will when He wants us to do something. Mary was chosen to do a job for the Lord and she was obedient enough to do it and that is all that there is to it. You too can do something for the Lord if you are willing. Thank you for your question.

She was a good Jewish girl that God picked to bear Jesus that was in the line of David. Nothing more! Catholicism has really gone overboard with it and embarrased Christianity with their teachings of how she was sinless and never had kids, etc.

I believe Mary was a wonderful example of faithfulness and obedience - for her role in bringing the Messiah to the earth - that's it.

Mary was/is obviously someone God loved tremendously. Christians should view her as such, someone that has a very real and eternal connection to God Himself. Christians should not pray to her in any way, shape, or form. You want to pray to someone, pray to God through Jesus. The bible makes it abundantly clear that He is a jealous God. All glory, honor, praise, and worship belong to Him and Him alone.

Protestant Christians believe she was a pure woman that found favor in God's eyes. God allowed Jesus to be born and raised by her. However, there is only one way to God the Father and that is through His son Jesus.
